Take it as a bromide that importunings about an opponent's failed youth movement will backfire. The Snakes pitched well, and won despite being outhit by the Dodgers 9-5. The Dodgers suffered from an impossible five wild pitches, breaking the previous Los Angeles Dodgers record set on April 9, 1999 against Colorado, when Darren Dreifort and Dave Mlicki uncorked four wild pitches. This was supposed to be about the return of Hiroki Kuroda, and he pitched well enough for a maiden trip to the mound after a rehab stint. Mercifully, he wasn't responsible for any of those wild pitches, but he also justifiably got tagged with the loss after only surrendering two runs. The Dodgers had leadoff men on second in the third and fourth and weren't able to get them over in either case. For the best offense in the league, it was a pretty pitiful poor outing, though the thrilling ninth inning rally almost made up for it.
