With the Red Sox sitting at .500, 43-43 and 9.5 games behind the first-place Yankees in the AL East standings at the All-Star break, the biggest question among fans is whether or not the team will be buyers or sellers at this month’s trade deadline. Despite being 9.5 games out in the division, the team is only 2.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot, but the issue is there are five teams ahead of them. With all of the injured players scheduled to come back in the next few weeks the Red Sox could look at those as midseason acquisitions, or they could become sellers and trade some of their star players Tony Massarotti believes that the Red Sox should be sellers, and look to trade one of their top pitchers. Possessors of a 40-35 record roughly 10 days ago, the Red Sox limped into the All-Star break late Sunday night on the heels of a 7-3 defeat to the Yankees at Fenway Park. With loss, the Sox dropped to a perfectly mediocre 43-43. But before we make this too much of a big-picture i...

Carl Crawford to Restart Rehab Time With Pawtucket Red Sox on Thursday

Carl Crawford is back on the rehab train. The Red Sox outfielder, who has been battling a variety of injuries, tweaked his groin while running the bases with the Portland Sea Dogs on July 5. After a week of recovery, he'll be back on the diamond on Thursday with the Pawtucket Red Sox when they take on the Buffalo Bisons at 7:05 p.m. at McCoy Stadium. The game will be shown on...

Red Sox count on getting healthy in second half

As the Boston Red Sox wrapped up the season's first half Sunday night at Fenway Park, injured Dustin Pedroia and nicked-up rookie Will Middlebrooks once again were on the bench. Jacoby Ellsbury hasn't played since April 13, and neither Carl Crawford nor closer Andrew Bailey has played a game all season, heading a disabled list that has featured 20 players. Soon, the Red...

The teams are set, now it's up to you to determine whose All-Red Sox Team you'd rather have. Red Sox' Issues Still Start With Starting Pitching and Other Thoughts From Baseball's First Half

It's time for the All-Star break in the baseball season, and that means different things to a lot of people. For some players, it's a chance to head to Kansas City with the honor (or burden) of playing in the Midsummer Classic. For the rest of the league, it's a chance to rest and recharge the batteries. For fans, it's a boring few days. There's a lot to look...

All-Star Game Lineups Announced With David Ortiz Hitting Seventh for American League Squad

The Yankees made it pretty clear that they weren't going to let David Ortiz beat them over the weekend, issuing six walks to the Red Sox designated hitter. It's probably safe to assume that Ortiz will have a few more pitches to see Tuesday night at the All-Star Game where Ortiz will hit seventh in a star-studded lineup with a ton of firepower. Ortiz, who was voted in as the...

Red Sox Blow Series to Yankees

Is anyone surprised about the result from this series? I am. I expected a four game sweep, so I guess losing just three is fine. You know what’s not fine? Josh Beckett and Jon Lester being 12-22 in games they have pitched at the all star break. Of course, two of the games they lost [...]

Red Sox News & Notes - 7/9

.500, two games below .500 at home (22-24) but two games above .500 on the road (21-19). If you thought this is where the Boston Red Sox would be at the 2012 All-Star break, you would be a genius. As fans of the team, we hold them to a higher standard and for the most part, we know they do to. But sometimes it just doesn't show. The Red Sox had a good opportunity this weekend...

A Look at the Red Sox First Half

we are in the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star break, I figured it would be a good time to take a look at Boston Red Sox and their performance by the numbers in through the first 86 games of the season. As we now the team sits at .500 a mere 43-43 at the break with a sub .500 home record of 22-24 at Fenway Park, while on the road they are 21-19. So what are the teams issues...

As If We Needed Any More Proof

Well that was fun. I’m sad it had to end so soon. Watching your team get the **** kicked out of them repeatedly by their biggest rival at home in a huge series on national television to end the season’s first half is about as rewarding as it gets. The Red Sox never run out of ways to impress me. If the huge gap (now 9.5 games) between the two teams in the American League East...
