Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria was reportedly outraged with Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez’s comments in which he told the Miami Herald the following:
“There’s not a manager dead or alive that Jeffrey thinks is good enough. Not Connie Mack, not anyone.”
Gonzalez managed the Marlins for five seasons including their last two winning teams, in 2008 and 2009. He was fired in June 2010, after the team got off to a 34-36 start.
Loria responded, “I’m a little surprised because it’s classless — and you can quote me — especially because he was with us for five years and he was a colossal failure.”
These comments came only two days after current Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen openly blasted the owner on Friday at Citi Field:
“If Jeffrey doesn’t think I’m doing the job I should do, it’s not the first time he’s fired a manager,” Guillen said. “Look yourself in the mirror and ask why so many (bleeping) managers come through here. When you are in last place…we all failed.”

Been a long, rough season in Miami for the Marlins. Reliever Heath Bell was thought to be one of the better off-season pickups by the organization, especially since he was averaging about 45 saves over the previous 3 years. But Bell had a terrible start to the season, which led to him losing job. He [...]
Being N.L. East fans we know all too well the revolving door the Miami Marlins' manager position has had. Within just days of each other, both current manager Ozzie Guillen and former manager Fredi Gonzalez both spoke up about Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria. Both were highly critical of the Marlins' owner.
First came former Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez, now enjoying...
Miami reliever Heath Bell was critical of manager Ozzie Guillen in a radio interview Monday, the latest in a series of turbulent comments for the disappointing Marlins to deal with as their season winds down.
''It's been an interesting year with Ozzie,'' Bell told Miami station WQAM. ''That's pretty much all I'll say about that. It's just...
Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is reportedly angry at Ozzie Guillen over comments the manager made about him recently and may lead to his firing, the Palm Beach Post reported Monday. The newspaper reported that Loria did not appreciate being "called out" by Guillen on Friday. "If Jeffrey doesn't think I'm doing the job I should do ... it's not the...
If Ozzie Guillen winds up keeping his job in Miami next season, Heath Bell may have to be traded. It has become evident this week that there is little to no respect between the manager and closer. During a radio appearance on Monday, Bell said it is hard to respect Guillen since Ozzie lied to him and led him to believe he would have a chance to win back the closer’s job. On Tuesday...
Miami Marlins relief pitcher Heath Bell believes comments he made on a radio program on Monday were misinterpreted as criticism of manager Ozzie Guillen, so he went back on the radio on Tuesday to try to clarify things. "I was never criticizing Ozzie," Bell said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM on Tuesday. "I don't think that's what I was doing on the radio...
Having clinched a playoff spot, the Atlanta Braves don't have to worry about another late-season collapse now.
The Braves look to win their fourth straight Wednesday night when they continue their series against the Miami Marlins.
Freddie Freeman hit a two-run, walk-off homer Tuesday, giving Atlanta a 4-3 win and at least an NL wild-card berth. The victory also pulled the club...
Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen is brushing off criticism from reliever Heath Bell.
Speaking on Tuesday about the team's latest ordeal, Guillen said Bell is entitled to his opinion. But the manager added that he has received about 30 supportive messages from current players and those he managed with the Chicago White Sox from 2004-2011.
Guillen indicated that Bell has not fully...
This Saturday night, September 29, undefeated super middleweight prospect Jason "Monstruo" Escalera will challenge world ranked and fellow undefeated Edwin "La Bomba" Rodriguez in the HBO Boxing after Dark, "Road To Glory" televised ten round main event at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

It's probably safe to assume most Marlins fans aren't happy with Heath Bell or Ozzie Guillen. Apparently, things aren't so rosy between the two, either. Guillen, of course, has been and likely always will be a rather opinionated manager, and Bell isn't too thrilled with how the Miami skipper has been operating during a disappointing season for the Fish. "It&...
A relatively quiet schedule this week, with a strange HBO show and not much else. The strangeness at HBO is a prospect-oriented tripleheader, reportedly the leftovers from an aborted attempt to establish a ShoBox competitor. Apart from that, things are thin, with only heavyweight Alexander Povetkin’s deplorable fight with the shell of Hasim Rahman really worth mentioning, and...
This Saturday night, September 29th, HBO Boxing After Dark is back with a special card from Foxwoods. Headlining the event is a super middleweight match between undefeated prospects, with Edwin Rodriguez, nearing a title shot, meeting prospect Jason Escalera. In the co-feature, Vic Darchinyan is back to take on another young gun, as he meets the undefeated Luis "Orlandito"...
We all know of the dysfunction that is the current Boston Red Sox. They suffered one of the biggest collapses in professional sports history last season, fired a good manager, hired a bad manager, traded away half the team and still go on the record publicly about how unhappy everyone in the organization is with each other.
Oh, and they might be sold shortly as well...
Ozzie Guillen had already put himself at-risk to be fired after his comments about Fidel Castro, and his team’s disappointing season has done little to help his job status. Now we’re learning that Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is unhappy with Guillen and leaning towards firing the manager.
The Palm Beach Post’s Joe Capozzi reports that Loria is upset with Guillen for calling...
