Found October 16, 2011 on Texas Rangers Trades:
This week the Rangers won the ALCS over the Detroit Tigers 4 games to 2 (which I predicted would happen) and punched their ticket to the World Series for the second straight year. I was there Saturday night to see them clinch and will be there this weekend for the World Series. I am so pumped and can’t wait for Wednesday, when the Series starts. Below are my predictions for both potential World Series scenarios.Rangers vs. Cardinals:Game 1: CJ Wilson, TEX vs. Chris Carpenter, STL in St. LouisCARDINALS WIN – While Carpenter has only had one good start out of three so far this postseason, he still has a 3.71 postseason ERA, and had a great start in his only ever World Series appearance, going 8 scoreless innings. Also, CJ has been really struggling so far in these playoffs, with an 8.04 ERA, allowing 6 home runs, and allowing 6 earned runs in 2 of his 3 outings. He is doing this despite ending the year with a 1.21 September ERA. However, in his only World Series start last year, he al...

C.J. Wilson wants $100m, Texas won’t pay it

According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, a source inside the Rangers organization says LHP C.J. Wilson is seeking $100 million this winter. “He wants $100 million, and he’s not getting that from us,” the source told Knobler. Michael Baron: Wilson is going to have a lot of leverage because he is the premier starting pitcher on this year’s free agent market...

Clinch allows Carpenter to get call in Game 1

With their 12-6 win over the Brewers in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday, the Cardinals can now go with their ace Chris Carpenter in the opener of the World Series.

Wilson, Carpenter meet in Series opener (AP)

The coolest person at the World Series is C.J. Wilson. The Texas Rangers pitcher chilled out as he prepared to face the St. Louis Cardinals in Wednesday night's opener. He spent 2 1/2 minutes in a Dallas cryotherapy chamber, where liquid nitrogen lowered the temperature to a frosty 295 degrees below zero in an effort to speed body recovery.

Wilson likely, but Rangers have options for Gm. 1

The Cardinals are in the World Series largely thanks to their ace, Chris Carpenter, who has led them all autumn with their season on the brink. The Rangers are in the World Series largely in spite of their ace, C.J. Wilson, whose brilliant regular season has been obscured by playoff hiccups.

Padres coach Balsley a fan of Carpenter

Long before Chris Carpenter became a Cy Young Award winner or helped the Cardinals to their 2006 World Series title, he was a 19-year-old biding his time before his professional debut, and Padres pitching coach Darren Balsley was his first manager.

Carpenter primed for key postseason start

MILWAUKEE • Whatever the result of Game 6 in the National League championship series on Sunday night, Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter arrived at Miller Park expecting to start tonight in Game 7.

New York Yankees Hot Stove: Rangers Rumored To Want CC Drop CJ

Rumors have swirled over the last week that the Texas Rangers are planning to give Yankees CC Sabathia an offer he can’t refuse if New York’s ace opts-out of his contract, five days after the World Series. With the likelihood that Rangers pitcher CJ Wilson will hit the 2012 free agent market does leave a [...]Read the rest of New York Yankees Hot Stove: Rangers Rumored To Want...

St. Louis Cardinals 2011 Starter of the Year

In what should be a surprise to no one, Chris Carpenter is our choice as the St. Louis Cardinals’ top starting pitcher this season.

Elbow Swoon?

Chris Carpenter’s elbow may or may not be fine: Mozeliak, La Russa and Carpenter took turns Sunday night insisting that Carpenter’s right elbow is not an issue and that he would have started Game 7 against the Brewers if the Cards had failed to clinch. La Russa challenged a description of Carpenter being “sore” following his five-inning start in Game 3 while...

Carpenter gets Game 1 Series start for Cards

The pitching matchups for the first two games of the World Series are set, as Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Chris Carpenter will take the ball for Game 1 on Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers' C.J. Wilson.

Oh Nellie! Rangers OF Cruz is This Week’s Sports Dreamboat

If chicks do indeed dig the long ball, well then Nellie Cruz was probably busy this past week. Your ALCS MVP decided to get red hot against the Tigers, and connect for 6 HRs total in the series. The stats don’t lie Cruz hit .364, 6 Bombs, and 13 RBIs. All of his 8 hits went for extra bases. Behind Cruz’s efforts, the Rangers are headed to the World Series to face the...

Stars from both teams downplay injuries

The Wednesday evening forecast here calls for temperatures in the high 40s and a chance of rain. The conditions won't be ideal for Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton to play through a groin injury, or Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter to keep his sore right elbow warm. But both are expected to play. It is, after all, Game 1 of the World Series. Hamilton batted .293 during the...

Wilson tabbed to open World Series in St. Louis

Rangers manager Ron Washington announced Monday that C.J. Wilson will be his starter for Game 1 of the World Series, opposite the Cardinals' Chris Carpenter, on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.

Random Thoughts

I can’t remember the last time I wrote something that looked like a “notes column”, but today, I have a bunch of thoughts on different subjects, and so that format seems like the best way to cover them all without writing 10,000 words. On to the loosely-related points that are on my mind today. Crappy News Yesterday, Mac Thomason – the founder of Braves...
