Mets Merized Online:
Some of you may think of this as an odd post from me as I usually post about the minor leagues or the draft. But I came across this on MLB Trade Rumors and thought it was different and interesting.
B.J. Rains is doing a series about why some MLB players chose the agents that they did. This one about David Wright naturally grabbed my attention.
As you all know, Wright signed an eight-year, $138 million extension with the New York Mets last December. While this was going on, his agents Sam and Seth Levinson of ACES were also dealing with a PED investigation from MLB at the same time.
On how he first came in contact with representatives from ACES…
“I guess just like any other agent, they have guys in the agency that come out and scout some of these tournaments and stuff and try to set up interviews with players to have them, I guess you can’t have an agent before the draft but an adviser and I remember I just clicked with the guys from ACES and in particular Keith Miller. I remember h...

In the following video you’ll find a touching story about the bond third baseman David Wright has forged with a disabled Iraqi war veteran named Felix, and how their relationship has grown over the years. The wheelchair bound veteran tells an inspiring story of what his United States flag means to him and the role it has played during his tours when he carried it in the deserts...

Players hit in the cages this morning as it rained here. The weather here has been awful; rainy and chilly. Nothing sun drenched about PSL these days.
Those hitting include Daniel Murphy, who took an injection for a strained intercostal muscle on his right side.
Also on the injury front, Jenrry Mejia was examined in New York yesterday for a thyroid...
When talking about Jon Niese… well that’s the thing. Niese isn’t often spoken about, particularly as a respected pitcher in the NL East, an esteem he deserves after his 2012 campaign.
Granted yesterday’s outing in which the young southpaw gave up four runs over 2 1/3 innings in Venezuela’s 14-10 routing of the Mets is not the Jonathon Niese that should be respected....
Beat writers are reporting that starting pitcher Jenrry Mejia is flying back to New York for a follow up exam related to something that came up after taking his his physical.
Mejia was supposed to pitch in a “B” Game this afternoon, but was a late scratch.
Sandy Alderson is going to address reporters shortly. We have John there who will report further as soon as he hears what...
Things just keep getting worse and not better on the Johan Santana front.
Andy Martino spoke to more than one team source and the consensus seems to be that Johan Santana will not be ready by Opening Day which totally wipes out Santana’s assertion that “he knows what he’s doing” and everything is okay. “I know the deal, spring training is for training okay!”.
With so much hype surrounding the likes of the Atlanta Braves, Washington
Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies, the Mets appear to be, on paper, the
fourth best team in the National League East this season.
While the lack of team success might frustrate their fans, fantasy baseball
owners will simply hope that their players will produce. There might not
be top-end talent on this...
Greetings from Port St. Lucie, where the Mets have the afternoon off. However, just because they are down for the day, it doesn’t mean there isn’t anything happening.
They wouldn’t be the Mets if there weren’t injury news. Jenrry Mejia returned to New York this morning to have an undisclosed medical condition checked out. As with Pedro Feliciano before him, his reporting...
New York Mets reliever Pedro Feliciano wore a heart monitor while pitching and reported no problems or discomfort during his first spring training outing.
Feliciano threw one inning against the Miami Marlins in a ''B'' game on a practice field behind Roger Dean Stadium. He allowed one run - on Ben Lasater's home run - hit a batter and struck out one.
So, my kids surprised me last night with a really early Mother’s Day gift – tickets to Banner Day!
After ESPN’s decision to schedule the original May 26th date for Sunday Night Baseball, the Mets held a fan vote to allow fans to choose when Banner Day should be held and ended up moving the date to Saturday, May 11. I’ll be there.
You have to understand – Banner Day was...
Ike Davis is now in the mix of names being considered for Team USA’s currently vacant first base position for the World Baseball Classic says Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com.
The spot was held by Mark Teixeira, but a strained right wrist put an end to that, leaving team USA with only Ben Zobrist and Joe Mauer as the only two on the roster with any experience at first.
