          Ed Coleman from WFAN reported last night that the Mets and David Wright agreed to an 8 year, $138 million extension. He reported this at approximately 3 am, which is ironically the same time Willie Randolph was fired during a roadtrip in Los Angeles in 2008. The Mets can finally go on with their offseason plans of adding outfield help, a catcher and strengthing their bullpen. As I have thought all along, the Mets entire offseason has hinged on Wright and the Mets agreeing to an extension. Furthermore, nothing else noteworthy was going to happen until this situation was resolved.     Not that this opens up Fred Wilpon’s wallet. Obviously, the Mets are not in the spending business because they committed to Wright. They have opened up dialogue with RA Dickey and seem to be negotiating an extension with him. A good sign the Mets are ready to explore improving the team at the winter meetings would be if the Mets extend Dickey before then. However, not signing him would leave...
