It was a pretty dull opening day to this anticlimactic virtually starless postseason, but four ex-Devil Rays were in action.
The X-Ray star who burned brightest was Trever Miller, who I mistakenly left out of Fifteen Faces Of October: The DRT Playoff Preview. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 6th, and the Cardinals trailing the Dodgers 5-2, the old hillbilly kept his team in it by striking out pinch-hitter Jim Thome. Miller quietly had a helluva year for the Cardinals, going 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA in 43.2 innings over 70 games.
Julio Lugo also entered at second base in the bottom of the 7th, popping out to first in his only at-bat.
