St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is tied for the league lead in games played among catchers. Molina and Baltimore Orioles catcher Matt Wieters each have caught 66 games this season.
Molina has taken on a quite a workload and has performed admirably. The defensive stud is hitting .318 and bombed his tenth home run of the season in the Cardinals 11-8 win on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals.

Matheny said that part of the reason was to give Molina rest, which is understandable for a catcher in the middle of a grueling 162 game season. But Matheny also told reporters that he also kept Molina out of the lineup because of his testy relationship with home plate umpire that day Rob Drake.
