Ichiro Suzuki Collects Infield Single After Hitting Ball Inside Jarrod Parker's Shirt (Video)

Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good. Ichiro Suzuki has been a little bit of both lately, but it's hard to argue he was being "good" when he lightly tapped a grounder back to the mound off A's starter Jarrod Parker on Friday. Then, the "lucky" took over. The ball somehow found its way into Parker's jersey, and the right-hander was unable...

Ichiro gets a hit when ball goes down pitcher's shirt

Ichiro Suzuki has been on a tear lately but even the streaking Yankees outfielder couldn't foresee himself getting a hit this way —  a routine come-backer to the mound going down the opposing  pitcher's shirt. Oakland A's righthander Jarrod Parker was the unlucky recipient of Ichiro's third-inning grounder and, when he couldn't get the ball out of his shirt...

A's pitcher loses ball in his jersey

Ah yes, the odd baseball happening of losing a ball in your jersey...it happened on Friday night to Jarrod Parker of the A's. Ichiro Suzuki of the Yankees hit a comebacker to the mound, and the ball went through the neck hole in Parker's shirt. The Oakland starter couldn't find the ball for a second before reaching down, and not being able to get it, resigning himself...

Vintage Ichiro

Many viewed the trade of outfielder Ichiro Suzuki to the Yankees as a low risk, high reward move. The perennial all-star and gold glove winner had exhausted his stay on a bad Seattle team, the oldest player on a club that’s laden with young, undeveloped talent. It was time for a change of scenery, and a move to a first place team, the Yankees thought, would revive the talents...

Yanks' Sabathia bounces back from subpar outings

CC Sabathia still hasn't won a game since Aug. 24, but the lefty gave the Yankees the type of dominant performance Friday night they've been waiting for. Sabathia threw eight shutout innings in a no-decision against the A's, holding Oakland to three hits and two walks while striking out 11. He didn't allow a hit until Stephen Drew's leadoff single in the sixth...

Ichiro Suzuki’s Nine-Hit Series Means He Can Ignore The Congratulations Of Derek Jeter

Ichiro Suzuki‘s nine-hit series against the Blue Jays means he now has the power to ignore congratulations attempts by Derek Jeter. “Hey! Good job! High five? No? Okay…”

Yanks outslug Jays, open 1-game lead

Streaking Ichiro Suzuki hit a go-ahead, two-run double in a seven-run fourth inning capped by Nick Swisher's grand slam, and the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-7 Thursday night to open a one-game AL East lead over idle Baltimore. After struggling for much of the summer, the Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Blue Jays and have won five in a row, their...

Yankees Game 150: Martin walks off in 10

Oakland Athletics 1 — New York Yankees 2 (10 innings)   Russell Martin walks off in the 10th inning of tonight’s win over the Oakland Athletics.   The Yankees turned to CC Sabathia to continue the winning ways and he gave them the effort fitting of an ace. Sabathia didn’t give up his first hit in the 6th inning. Through 8 innings, Sabathia would give up just 3 hits and 2...

Yankees 10, Athletics 9(14)

Raul Ibanez hit his second home run of the game during a dramatic rally in the 13th inning, then the New York Yankees won a thriller when Ichiro Suzuki scored on first baseman Brandon Moss' two-out error in the 14th to beat the Oakland Athletics 10-9 Saturday. The AL East leaders held their one-game edge over Baltimore. Down 9-5 in the 13th, the Yankees won for just the second...

AL contenders head to crucial series

Thursday was significant for the Oakland A's. And no, not because of the green wrestling singlets with yellow headgear -- think early 1990s Oregon Ducks -- distributed among the team's rookies for their initiation. The costumes generated riotous laughs and funny tweets, but the day's big news happened on the field. This was Oakland's latest checkpoint game, wedged...
