The Yankees announced on Tuesday that they avoided arbitration with catcher Russell Martin as the two sides reached an agreement on a one-year deal. The two sides exchanged figures headed to arbitration last week with Martin asking for $8.2 million and the Yankees countering with $7 million. There is no word on what exactly they settled on, but something around $7.6 million seems likely. This deal will keep Martin in Pinstripes for at least one more year and he will be a free agent next offseason. Brian Cashman has gone on record saying he would like a long-term deal with Martin, but he makes a practice of waiting until a player’s deal has expired before re-signing him. Prince Fielder Should Sign With the Yankees

Look, I’m a Braves fan.  I’m not some biased, hoarding, ego-centric Yankee with an overinflated sense of self. I’m a baseball fan and I understand how this game works.  I frankly despise the way the Yankees bossed around the little guy en route to their 27 championships.  All that said Prince Fielder’s biggest chance for the most money he can possibly make...

What Jorge Posada did was special. Still, players who aren't fortunate enough to spend their entire careers with the same organization can, and often do, end up indelibly linked to just one franchise.

GM: Montero’s best I’ve traded
