They Yankees announced their list of non-roster 27 players who are on minor league contracts and will be invited to spring training. Those 27 players plus everyone on the 40-man roster means that there will be 67 players in spring training.
The most notable among these are Bill Hall and Russell Branyan because both have a chance to make the opening day roster. Hideki Okajima is another big name because he is fighting for a shot to be the second lefty out of the bullpen.
The biggest name among the minor leaguers is probably Gary Sanchez, who becomes a much bigger deal to the organization now that Jesus Montero is gone. Adam Warren is also interesting because he could help in the rotation this season if a need arises. Obviously Manny Banuelos is a huge name, but he isn’t likely to join this team until the second half of the season at the earliest.
Other than that nobody jumps out as important. A few of them may help the Yankees in very minor roles later on in the year so what...
