The New York Yankees (2-3) beat the Baltimore Orioles (3-2) 5-4 in 12 innings, tonight at Camdem Yards. Pitching: Freddy Garcia made his first start of the season and it was tough to watch. He went 4.2 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 runs (1 HR), walked 3 and struck out 3 batters for 98 pitches. The Bullpen pitched scoreless 7.1 innings pitched, allowed 2 hits, walked 2 and struck out 12 batters. Mariano Rivera got his first save of the season pitching a 1-2-3 inning in the 12th inning and struck out two batters in the process. Hitting: Derek Jeter had his first HR of the season leading off in the 1st inning. Raul Ibanez got the game winning RBI double in the top of the 12th inning. Robinson Cano had three hits including two doubles and scored two runs. Brett Gardner had two hits including an RBI single. Two games against a bad team makes things fun as the Yankees have won two games in a row against the Orioles. They will go for the sweep tomorrow night and try to reach 500 ba...

Venditte on the doorstep to the majors

If you have the opportunity to take in a minor league game involving the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (or the Empire State Yankees for the 2012 season), you may notice something that will cause a double take.  Should No. 58 trot out to the pitchers mound, you might want to pay attention because you might see something that hasn’t been done but once in baseball’s modern era...

Bisons Power Past Yankees In Blowout Fashion

Buffalo, NY – It was a record breaking day for the Bisons in their home opener as they dominated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 12-3 in front of an announced 10,905 fans at Coca-Cola Field. The 12 runs broke the Bisons previous record for runs in a home opener, a 10 run outing in a win over Pawtucket in 2003. While the bulk of the runs came in the fourth inning, the Buffalo...

Maxwell homers in Houston debut

HOUSTON- Nameplates are often last on the checklist in the frenzy of player transactions, thus while Justin Maxwell was sufficiently outfitted for his Astros debut and announced his arrival with a two-run, pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning on Monday night at Minute Maid Park, the space next to the No. 22 above his locker remained blank afterward. That logistical hazard did...

Repeat After Me "Giambi Wasn't a Bust"

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Jason Giambi has not been a New York Yankee since 2008 & ever since his last appearance; the masses have only been saying one thing about him.  Bust.  That could not be further from the truth.  Did he live up to the contract that was awarded...

Yankees Pitcher Freddy Garcia Better Be Scared of Andy Pettitte Taking His Spot After Wild Night in Baltimore

In the movie Major League, Ricky Vaughn (played by none other than Charlie Sheen), came out to the song Wild Thing by The Troggs. That was partly due to his personality, but also because Ricky had a little trouble throwing strikes. in Major League Baseball, Mitch Williams took that role, and adopted the same song for similar reasons. After last night’s poor performance...

Is David Robertson the most dominate reliever in the league right now?

I know that the season is just beginning, and that players are just beginning to get the feel for the game again, but what I saw from David Robertson yesterday definitely blew my mind. Even though he only pitched one inning and struck only one hitter and walked one, I could see how every hitter looked helpless when facing him. His pitch location was perfect and his fastball was...

This is Robert Andino. This is Robert Andino on the Orioles

There is nothing but negativity that surrounds the Baltimore Orioles organization. This is an organization that has seen only 7 winning seasons since winning the 1983 World Series, and not one since the 1997 season. This screen cap that was posted over at Jockular, captures the essence of what it is like to be involved [...]

Last night, the Baltimore Orioles played their longest game of the season – 12 innings – and lost to the New York Yankees, 5-4. The Orioles have lost two in a row. Game 4: Orioles 2, Yankees 6

Reversing the attendance downturn after Opening Day with the infusion of New York fans. The Good: Matt Wieters might actually be the best catcher in baseball right now. He hits his second home run of the year, over the scoreboard; doubled to the opposite field; singled through the infield shift, and then to the outfield on a line; and threw a runner* out on the bases. I was hoping...
