The New York Yankees (90-65) beat the Minnesota Twins (65-91) 8-2, yesterday afternoon at Target Field from Minneapolis, MN. W - CC Sabathia (14-6), L - Brian Duensing (4-11). Game Stats: CC Sabathia pitched a dominated game and showed why he is the ace of this ballclub. He pitched 8 innings, allowed 6 hits, gave up 2 runs, walked 1 and struck out 10 batters. Robinson Cano had two double including a two-run double. Chris Dickerson hit a two-run HR (2) in the 6th inning. Curtis Granderson had a two-run triple. The second half the season hasn't been pretty for CC Sabathia, but he pitched like an ace against the Twins. CC Sabathia threw 89 strikes out of 119 pitches. That shows me that he is ready for postseason play. New York remain 1.5 games up on Baltimore for first place of the AL East division since the Orioles beat the Blue Jays 12-2 last night.
  • Their next game will be Thursday night, when they play the Toronto Blue Jays in the Rogers Centre at 7:07 pm on YES.
  • Pitching matchup will be RHP Ivan Nova (12-7, 4.94 ERA) vs RHP Brandon Morrow (8-7, 3.28 ERA).

Nova May Have Pitched Himself Off The Postseason Roster

From Wallace Matthews:Last October, when the New York Yankees needed one more win to extend their season another round, they asked Ivan Nova to get it. This October, they may not even invite him along for the ride. Thursday night, facing yet another golden opportunity to create some separation between themselves and the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees turned to Nova. And...

Yankees: Oh no not Rodriguez again

English: Alex Rodriguez (Photo credit: Wikipedia) If you missed the New York Yankees beating of the Minnesota Twins yesterday afternoon, you obviously couldn’t have noticed the absence of Alex Rodriguez. T Minus 6: Yanks Lose, O's Idle

Brett Gardner Injury: Yankees Activate OF for Stretch Run

Brett Gardner has only played nine games this season. His injury was a big reason why the New York Yankees went out and acquired Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners. According to Jack Moore of CBS Sports, Brett Gardner will be available in tonight's...

Yankees' Sabathia maintains dominance of Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- Despite the New York Yankees' position in the heart of a dramatic playoff race, they provided little in the way of drama on a sunny Wednesday afternoon.
