The Yankees have added another pitcher to the roster, RHP Kevin Whelan and have sent down outfielder Chris Dickerson to make room on the roster, according to Chad Jennings of the Journal News.
Whelan is not on the 40-man roster, but they can easily make room for him by moving Joba Chamberlain or Justin Maxwell to the 60-day DL.
Whelan, 27, has a 1.67 ERA over 27 innings in 25 games. He has a 10.0 K/9 and a 2.0 BB/9 ratio. If he maintains that he could do well in the major leagues. His walk ratio is generally closer to 5.2 BB/9, his career minor league average.
