Could this be Derek Jeter’s Last Season?

It looks increasingly likely that the Yankees shortstop will start the season on the DL due to his nagging ankle injury. How long Jeter will be out of the lineup is unknown, but what I want to know is how much longer is he really going to play? Jeter had one of the best years … Continue reading »

Alex Rodriguez’s Salary Is More Than Astros’ Entire Payroll, and He May Not Even Play This Year

Alex Rodriguez is known for being one of the most talented players in Major League Baseball history, and he’s also known for having the most ridiculous salary in the game. Throughout the years, stories recognizing both feats have popped up at regular intervals. But this year, while Rodriguez’s injured hip will keep him from ascending the record books, the signs recognizing his...

No Showtime At The Apollo Jeter

The Yankees are the movie Family Plot with hot, upcoming stars Bruce Dern, William Devane, and Karen Black. Alfred Hitchcock is the master suspense and this is his greatest movie about a man obsessed with a blonde since ever! The Yankees are Tupac's last posthumously released album featuring Papoose, Lil' Scrappy and Big Syke. Hear what Tupac never wanted you to hear in...

Yankees’ Derek Jeter shut down until next week

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters – including Bryan Hoch of MLB.com – that Derek Jeter will not play in another minor league game until next week, as he’s being shutdown as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. "He was here today with the physical therapist getting treatment and doing some work that way, so we'll give...

Ailing A-Rod will make more than Houston Astros

Alex Rodriguez will make more this year than all the Houston Astros combined. A-Rod's $29 million salary tops the major leagues for the 13th straight season, according to a study of major league contracts by The Associated Press. Rodriguez's Yankees are on track to have the highest payroll on opening day for the 15th straight year, climbing above the Los Angeles Dodgers...

Jeter will not play in minor league games until next week

Derek Jeter will begin the 2013 season on the disabled list. Jeter last played a game on Saturday and was still sore in his surgically-repaired ankle the following day. The Yankees have already committed to starting the season with their captain on the disabled list. Jeter could miss more then just the Opening Day game against Boston though. Jeter will be out of any game action until...

MLB Divisional Previews: AL East

2012 was a crazy year in the American League East.  Boston collapsed. New York stayed afloat while getting older. Toronto treaded water, and Tampa Bay just barely missed out on the postseason when Baltimore came out of nowhere to sneak into the last Wild Card spot. In the offseason, it was Toronto’s year to make a splash by seemingly trading for every available big-name player...

The New York Yankees ARE The Walking Dead

Derek Jeter broke his ankle in the ALDS last year. He still has not fully recovered. “The Captain” is among “The Walking Dead” who the Yankees currently have on the DL. Everyone is infected… Phil “Yooz” – Back “The Grandyman” – Arm A-Rod – Torn Labia Mark Tiexierierixa – Wrist “#1 in your heart, but #2 on your scorecard”, “The Captain” – Ankle...

Why Yanks will finish LAST in AL East

I have immense respect for the New York Yankees. Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera -- first-ballot Hall of Famers who have spent their entire careers with the same franchise -- are class personified. Even amid talk of the mythical $189 million ceiling for next year, the Yankees (unlike other franchises) have an enduring commitment to winning, with 27 World Series championships to prove...

A-Rod making more than Astros' entire 2013 payroll

Here's something for the New York Yankees to chew on while they make an attempt to slim their payroll below the luxury tax threshold.  Alex Rodriguez's $29 million salary is more than the entire Houston Astros payroll combined — over eight MLB minimum wage contracts more. And the injured Yankees slugger won't even be playing a game before the All-Star break — if...

Date night with CC & Amber Sabathia plus Prince & Chanel Fielder

It was date night at the Miami Heat vs. Orlando Magic game. Baseball stars CC Sabathia and Prince Fielder sat courtside with their wives Amber and Chanel. They were also joined for dinner later by Magic’s Al Harrington and his wife Michelle.   photos via Instagram

If you think the CC trade was a bust, think again

The year was 2008, and with the trade deadline looming the Cleveland Indians were going nowhere fast. Facing an opportunity to deal the reigning Cy Young winner, CC Sabathia, or lose him to free agency, the Tribe agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers with the centerpiece being Matt LaPorta, who one scout described as “can’t miss.” "He's a great kid," the...

How Would We Know if MLB Got PED Tests Wrong?

(Photo: AP/Jacquelyn Martin) Last week, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that MLB is out to nail Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun as part of its Biogenesis Clinic investigation.  Apparently MLB is going so far as to offer other players immunity for information on A-Rod or Braun, “even if they admit guilt to the use of performance-enhancing drugs.”  It’s not hard to...

A-Rod will make more than the Astros

Alex Rodriguez will make more this year than all the Houston Astros combined -- a lot more. And he won't even play the first half of the season, if at all. A-Rod's $29 million salary tops the major leagues for the 13th straight season, according to a study of major league contracts by The Associated Press. Rodriguez's Yankees are on track to have the highest payroll...
