New York Yankees 3 — Cleveland Indians 1

Nick Swisher was the entire Yankees offense in CC’s return to the mound in tonight’s 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians.

CC Sabathia made two returns. His return to Cleveland and his return from an elbow injury. The injury seemed to be non-existent as he went 7.1 strong innings on 100 pitches. He would have all of his pitches working as he struck out 9 and walked just 1. The only damage came on a solo home run to Asdrubal Cabrera following a pitch that could have been retaliation for a pitch, thrown behind the body of Cabrera, that hit Yankees’ Derek Jeter in the helmet earlier in the game. Sabathia pitched an outstanding game and put fans and players at ease knowing that the ace has returned to the top of his game. David Robertson pitched through 0.2 of an inning and finished off the 8th inning. Rafael Soriano pitched into a precarious position when the tying runs were on the bases at 2nd and 3rd. After a strikeout and a pop out, pinch-hitter Casey Kotchman would get walked to load the bases as the potential game-winning run. He would get Jack Hannahan to ground out to first and end the game with a win.

The Yankees offense came from the top of the lineup. Derek Jeter led off the game with a double into right-center. Nick Swisher would back up that double with a double of his own into nearly the same spot in right-center to put the Yankees ahead 1-0. Nick Swisher would come through again for a two-run home run in the 7th inning to put the Yankees ahead and was responsible for driving in all 3 runs for the Yankees. Robinson Cano also came through for a double in tonight’s game but Swisher was clearly the offensive star of tonight’s game.

Win – CC Sabathia (13-3)

Loss – Cody Allen (0-1)

Save – Rafael Soriano (32)

Is Derek Jeter ‘Above’ steroid Accusations?

Skip Bayless opened the flood gates on the topic of Jeter and steroids on Wednesday when he questioned if the 38-year-old was having an amazing season through the use of PED’s. Now, it’s not as if Skip (even with all his trollish foilbles) pulled this question out of thin air, after 2 major players have been caught using banned substances this past week alone. Was Skip within...

Suzuki adds a spark to Yankees

The Yankees traded for Ichiro Suzuki one month ago, rolling the dice that the 10-time All-Star would catch a second wind with a move from the last-place Seattle Mariners to first-place New York. Apparently, he has. The 38-year-old outfielder is hitting .302 in his first 29 games with the Yankees, hitting three home runs while driving in 13. "He's played extremely well...

Just because Michael Pineda is 65 pounds overweight, and just because he likes to get drunk every night while working out, doesn't mean he is not worth the king's ransom in kind and in salary we dealt for him.He is, my sources say, the most interesting overnight guest in the Palm County jail.A great joke teller.                                       ...

The Francessa Rant: Music To A Yankee Fan's Ears

The Yankees have not played well over the past 30 days. The 10-game lead they had over the Tampa Bay Rays has been reduced to just 2 and 1/2 games.
