Pronk stayed hot tonight, going 2-4 with 2 RBIs
Baltimore Orioles 3–New York Yankees 2 (10 innings)
Phil Hughes put together another solid start and Travis Hafner stayed hot, but it wasn’t enough as the O’s clipped the Bombers in extra innings. Hughes was effective over 6 innings, allowing just 5 hits and 2 runs–both solo shots by Chris Dickerson–while striking out 5, before giving way to a bullpen cocktail of Boone Logan, Shawn Kelley, David Robertson, and Preston Claiborne that stymied Baltimore for 3 innings.
Last night the Yankee bats were able to produce down the stretch, but tonight the Yanks managed just 1 hit in their final 19 at bats–a David Adams single in the 7th. Aside from yielding RBI singles to Hafner in the 1st and 4th innings, Miguel Gonzalez was masterful over seven while Tommy Hunter and Jim Johnson slammed the door on the Yanks, holding them hitless over the final three. That left the door open for Baltimore to steal the game and that’s exactly what they did when Nate McLouth homered to right-center off of Vidal Nuno to open, and close, the 10th.
The Yanks will look to rebound tomorrow in the rubber match at Camden Yards as Hiroki Kuroda battles Jason Hammel.
Win: Jim Johnson (2-4)
Loss: Vidal Nuno (1-1)
*Brett Gardner: 1-4, 2B (8), Run
*Vernon Wells: 1-4, 2B (6), Run
*Travis Hafner: 2-4, 2 RBI (24)
*Nate McLouth: 2-5, Run, HR (4), RBI (11)
*Chris Dickerson: 3-4, 2 HR (3), 2 RBI (8)
Current Yankees Record: 28-17

Where would we be without Travis Hafner and Vernon Wells?
Once again, it was the two off-season acquisitions who came up with the big hits, powering the Yanks to their 12th come-from-behind victory of the season. Down 4-3 in the 9th, Hafner blasted a game-tying, opposite-field shot to left field, providing...
On Wednesday night rotation stalwart Hiroki Kuroda had an injury shortened and ineffective outing, and rookie reliever Preston Claiborne finally showed some vulnerability as the Yankees fell to their A.L. East division rivals, the Baltimore Orioles. On a good note, however, David Adams, the rookie 3B, provided a spark of optimism. The Yankees had seven hits last night, half...
Mark Teixeira first announced the fact that he had taken some good at-bats via his Twitter account yesterday. The team then confirmed his progress and prognosis. They are still guarded about his potential return date, but for Teixeira to take some swings for the first time since his wrist injury is a good thing.
Felt good to get my first AB's since March. 1-2 with a...
It’s been Preston Claiborne and Shawn Kelley stealing the show in the bullpen, easily the most dominant makeup of the New York Yankees‘ roster. With their assistance in the wake of Joba Chamberlain‘s injury, along with the usual dominance from Dave Robertson and Mariano Rivera, the Yankees’ bullpen is one of the best in the game and its future is in no doubt whatsoever, despite...

It pays to be Alex Rodriguez — even if he's not on the playing field — in more ways than one. The hobbled $25 million New York Yankees slugger just sold his Miami Beach mansion for a cool $30 million — which comes with a staggering profit of $15 million.
A-Rod accepted the $30 mil offer for the luxurious 19,861-square-foot beachfront estate — the same property he purchased...

Jose Ramirez‘s live arm was on display against Kevin Gausman this past Friday. The New York Yankees’ minor-leaguer consistently unleashed 94 mph to 95 mph four-seam fastballs against the Bowie Baysox from his low three-quarter arm slot. The pitch touched 97 mph, but Ramirez’s low release point kept it on the same plane on which it was released. It did, however, feature arm...

While the Baltimore Orioles will get a look at top prospect Kevin Gaussman today as he starts against the Toronto Blue Jays, but another highly-touted prospect in the organization will have to sit before he can continue to show the team what he's got. Jonathan Schoop has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back. He will need a few weeks to recover.
AL BEast Notebook – May 20
In case you missed it, on the day after the fifteenth anniversary of the ’98 Yankees/Orioles brawl, the Yankees defeated the Orioles 6-4 in ten innings in one of the more interesting games of the season. And even if you did catch it, you don’t want to miss my notes from the night.

The Baltimore Orioles hope this year's high-profile midseason call-up is as good as last year's high-profile midseason call-up.
The Orioles will promote right-hander Kevin Gausman from Class-AA Bowie to make his major league debut Thursday against Toronto, major league sources told FOXSports.com.
