Outside the Boxscore:
As Major League Baseball's regular season finally came to an end last night, the New York Yankees grounds crew had a little trouble with a rogue bird back on Tuesday.
During the twelfth inning of New York's extra inning affair against the Boston Red Sox, a rogue bird had made its way onto the field and parked itself near second base.
One of the umpires summoned a Yankees grounds crew member who attempted to catch the bird with a bucket but had a hard time doing so:

The New York Yankees went into to last night with a one-run lead over the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East.
The Yankees fought hard vs. a more complete Red Sox. And after 12-innings, the Bronx Bombers won, in walk-off fashion, 4-3.
And Yankee fans owe a lot of that win to the moves made by skipper Joe...
Congratulations are in order for the New York Yankees, who officially became AL East DivisionChamps last night.

The Bronx Bombers finished the 2012 regular season with a 95-67 record, the best in the American League.
It was a magnificent way to finish a season for a Yankees team where injuries and age made everyone else doubt their ability, myself...

Robinson Cano can thank the players he grew up watching – Jose Canseco, Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds and the rest of the cheaters. The suspicion of performance-enhancing drug use still burns rampant when players have big offensive years or careers – especially those that play positions that do not usually generate big power numbers. Professional ESPN clown Skip...
Sorry, ladies, you get porky Andruw Jones in his tighty black underwear instead of Jeter, ARod or Eric Chavez. According to the jersey chasers who were watching live, this undie incident went down during a YES interview with Nick Swisher. Of course there were those chicks who would lower their standards for the chance to do dirty things to the washed up Jones. He only hit .197 and...
The Yankees control their own destiny going into the final game of the season, and just one more victory can send them off celebrating another division title
As fall creeps in, n the leaves change on the trees, it symbolically represents the transition from regular-season baseball, to the intense post-season race for a world championship.
There’s nothing like the late-season dramatics...
Another Russell Martin printing plate bites the dust in my quest to grab as many affordable 1/1s of the former Dodgers' backstop as I can. From 2008 Topps Chrome comes the Magenta Plate:I think this ran me around half a blaster, and it's a welcome addition to my Martin Collection. I've said it countless times before, but Russell's cards always feature an awesome photo...
New York Yankees TV analyst David Cone said something that I’m sure he wishes he could take back.During the 11th inning, Suzuki reached for a pitch and hit a grounder to the shortstop. Cone responded by saying, “probably a ball, but Suzuki with the chopstick.”Ichiro is a talented ballplayer and that’s more important to talk about than his nationality. This was a thoughtless...
NEW YORK -- The ball flew off his bat, over the wall in right for a game-tying homer in the ninth, and Raul Ibanez felt everything start to go in slow motion. He would send his New York Yankees into fast-forward three innings later with a walk-off single that led to another wild celebration at Yankee Stadium. Three outs from dropping into a tie for the American League East heading...
Just when you think they're out, they keep reeling you back in. The Red Sox were poised to help the Orioles grab a share of the American League East with one game left to play, but let a win slip through their fingertips. Raul Ibanez homered off Andrew Bailey in the ninth inning and singled home the winning run off Andrew Miller in the 12th, capping off a wild night in the Bronx...
