Usually admitting when you are wrong can sometimes be a good thing, and I was wrong about Ichiro Suzuki. English: Ichiro Suzuki playing the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. (Photo credit: Wikipedia) When the Yankees announced that they had traded for the Mariners biggest star outfielder, I did not think that it was a great idea. I had figured that helping the lull in ticket sales at Yankee Stadium would be all about all Ichiro would bring. My rational for not loving the idea of Ichiro was legit, and embraced by many other Yankee fans. It was a fact that Ichiro’s numbers had significantly declined in the past two seasons; and then you factor in that he is 39-years old and you do not have an ideal formula. Well boy was I wrong, as since donning the pinstripes the old-young version of Ichiro has resurged. Recap: Kuroda dominates Sox, Yankees take series

(Photo by Jason Szenes/Getty Images) The Red Sox didn't have much of a chance against Hiroki Kuroda as they drop the final game of the series, 4-1. Kuroda held the Sox to just 2 hits through the first 6 innings, a Punto single in the 3rd and a Saltalamacchia single in the 5th. Adrian Gonzalez puts the Sox on the board in the 7th by hitting another homer, a solo shot to right...

New York will send right-hander, Hiroki Kuroda, to the mound tonight in the rubber match against the Boston Red Sox. Kuroda is coming off a complete game against the Texas Rangers, where he gave up two hits, walked two and struck out five for the win. Derek Jeter is back at short, while Mark Teixeira is out for third straight game with sore left wrist. Right-hander Josh Beckett ...

Ichiro’s Sudden Selectivity In Pinstripes

When Seattle traded Ichiro Suzuki to New York in mid-July, the 38-year-old outfielder owned a mere .281 wOBA and was largely assumed to be on his last legs as a major-league baseball player. He still provided value with his glove, but his 77 wRC+ was simply too unproductive to pencil in as a right fielder every night. As a New York Yankee, however, Ichiro has enjoyed far greater...

Yankees 4, Red Sox 1

Ichiro Suzuki homered twice and Hiroki Kuroda pitched eight innings of four-hit ball to lead the New York Yankees past Josh Beckett and the Boston Red Sox 4-1 on Sunday night. Derek Jeter had three hits and scored twice for the Yankees, who took two of three from Boston despite playing the entire series without slugger Mark Teixeira. The AL East leaders won for the ninth time in...

Ichiro homers twice, Yanks top BoSox

With two home runs already, Ichiro Suzuki was thinking about No. 3. He took a huge hack in the eighth inning and fouled the pitch straight back. ''I swung too hard. My neck hurts,'' Suzuki said through a translator Sunday night after his rare power display. Three players pushing 40 carried the New York Yankees to a 4-1 victory over Boston. Suzuki smacked a pair...

Click on the photo to read more about the 2012 NY Yankees Hiroki Kuroda man, Hiroki Kuroda. Kuroda & Jackson: One-Year (Contract) Wonders

Prior to this past offseason, five of Dave Cameron’s top ten free agents were starting pitchers. Both CC Sabathia (#3) and C.J. Wilson (#5) landed mega-contracts while Roy Oswalt (#9) decided to take the Pedro Martinez/Roger Clemens route and sign midseason. The other two guys — Hiroki Kuroda (#8) and Edwin Jackson (#10) — signed nearly identical one-year contracts. Eight months...

Ichiro Takes Beckett Yard Twice In Loss

On Friday, Nick Swisher hit two homeruns in the game and last night it was Ichiro Suzuki's turn to hit two bombs in a game.  Beckett allowed 4 runs and two of them were solo HRs from Ichiro.  Those 4 runs were more than enough for Kuroda who has probably been the Yankees best pitcher this season.  The Sox lost another series and are now 7.5 games back of the 2nd wild card...

Looking Long

One notable aspect of last night's game was that Ichiro Suzuki hit two home runs, both solo shots, off Josh Beckett.Ichiro is one of the game's great contact hitters, but he's never been known for power. I don't know if that was his first two-homer game, but it likely was, because he has 102 home runs in his career -- his 12-year, 7,945 at-bat career. That's one...

Move Over, Tebow: ‘Felixing’ Is The New Craze

Since a run of four 90+ win seasons from 2000-2003, the Seattle Mariners have had just 2 winning seasons. While their fans certainly aren’t as maligned as those of the Cleveland Indians or Chicago Cubs, it’s still not very easy being a loyal moose in the Emerald City, especially with the team shipping out the beloved Ichiro Suzuki for greener pastures earlier this season. In...
