New York Yankees' relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain suffered a freak injury at home during the 2011-2012 offseason that caused him to miss more than half of the 2012 season. Chamberlain returned late in the year to post a 1-0 record and a 4.35 ERA in 22 relief appearances. The Yankees used him sparingly as he pitched a total of only 22 innings combining the regular season and postseason.  Chamberlain is now fully healthy.  MLB.com's Yankees beat writer Bryan Hoch answered my February 10 tweet to him regarding to Chamberlain's health. Hoch responded, "I last saw him [Chamberlain] around Thanksgiving, but he's already in Tampa, healthy and ready to go." Chamberlain is one of a number of Yankee pitchers recovering from injury at some point during the 2012 season or offseason. The most notable of these pitchers are CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte, and Mariano Rivera. With Rivera now resuming his closing duties and last year's fill-in closer Raphael Soriano departed, Chamberlain could find himself one of the main setup men in the Yankee bullpen in 2013. He could also close out some save situations if and when Rivera needs a day off.  Chamberlain is 21-13 with a 3.73 ERA and 4 saves in his six-year career. On January 15, he filed for arbitration. He made $1.675 million in 2012. Sources: Baseball Reference, Joba Chamberlain Player Page, baseball-reference.com. Bryan Hoch, Personal Twitter Message, twitter.com.
