In order to make room for recent roster moves the Yankees designated outfielders Colin Curtis and Greg Golson for assignment. Today they both cleared waivers, Curtis was assigned to Triple-A and Golson became a free agent, according to Chad Jennings of the Journal News. Golson is remembered for the assist he made back in 2010 when he nailed Carl Crawford at third base in a game against the Rays that held playoff implications. He was a decent toolsy outfielder, but wasn’t seen as much more than a fifth outfielder type at best with the Yankees. Curtis is very similar with different tool sets. He’ll likely play most of the season in Triple-A and will only see time in the Bronx if there is an injury. Instead they’ll probably have a veteran outfielder (most likely Andruw Jones) and Chris Dickerson as their fourth and fifth outfielders. Rumor: Yankees open to a Russell Martin contract extension

The Yankees tendered a contract to Russell Martin yesterday keeping him in Pinstripes for at least one more year. However, they are thinking of offering the soon to be 29-year-old a long-term deal to keep him as the starting catcher past 2012, according to George King of the NY Post. Cashman told King that there hasn’t been talks between the Yankees and Martin yet, but that...

Did Derek Jeter's Booty Calls Get Gift Baskets With Autographed Swag?

There hasn't been much news in Yankeeland these days. But today, the New York Post has a gossipy piece about how Derek Jeter is "bedding a bevy of beauties in his Trump World Tower bachelor pad — and then coldly sending them home alone with gift baskets of autographed memorabila." Heh.And according to the Post, the story came to light after he pulled the same stunt...

Sweet Lou Piniella close to joining the Yankees on YES

The man Yankees fans loved and later loved to hate as a visiting manager, Lou Piniella, is close to signing a deal that would bring him back to the Bronx as a broadcaster for the YES Network, according to Bob Raissman of the NY Daily News. Sweet Lou actually broadcasted Yankees games in 1989 for MSG after he was fired as the team’s manager. He will likely do just a few games...

Top 50 Prospects: #26 – Manny Banuelos

#26 Manny Banuelos New York Yankees DOB: 3/13/1991 Previous Rank: N/R ETA: 2012 Don’t look now, but it appears the Yankees will graduate a quality young starting pitcher to the Big Leagues for the second consecutive season.  Banuelos’ 5-foot-11 and 155-pound frame certainly does not ooze projection, but the southpaw can reach back for 95 mph when he needs it and cruises at...

New Yorkers, You Don’t Want A Derek Jeter Signed Baseball From Your Girlfriend This Christmas

Jeter has done an amazing job of avoided the New York paparazzi over the years. Still, it’s been widely speculated that Jeter likes to spend the occasional night with a random young lady at his Trump Tower pad. Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment in New York, and then he gets them a car to take them home the next day. Waiting in his car is a gift basket containing...

Derek Jeter and His Hilarious One Night Stand Story

There isn’t any doubt that Derek Jeter gets some incredible booty. I mean just look at the girls he’s dated? The thing that makes Derek Jeter “the man” is what he gives his one night stands after shaking boots with them. After he finishes…getting it on…he sends them home in a car and in that car is a basket full of memorabilia. Now that is legit...

Rumor: Kuroda would consider playing for the Yankees

The pitcher the Yankees tried hardest to trade for this past July 31st trade deadline was probably Hiroki Kuroda. They probably would have pulled off a trade too, but Kuroda evoked his no trade clause and that put an end to talks between the Yankees and Dodgers. Now it looks like Kuroda has no problem playing for the Yankees as well as a few other teams, according to Jon Heyman...

Lou Piniella set to rejoin the Yankees organization

It looks like Lou Piniella's homecoming to the Bronx is finally becoming a reality. At least officially. While the old manager made an appearance at Old Timers Day in 2011, Sweet Lou surprised many by taking a consulting job with the San Francisco Giants in his first post-managerial gig instead of working for the New York Yankees as was rumored. But with the Giants wishing to...

ESPN's Jim Bowden Predicts Kuroda to Yankees

In his column "10 moves that might happen", Bowden doesn't have much mention of the Dodgers, besides what we would lose (link insider only): 4. Hiroki Kuroda signs with the New York Yankees for one year, $13 million One of the most underrated pitchers in the free-agent market, Kuroda would fit in nicely with the New York Yankees. He and a healthy Phil Hughes would...
