As Michael Kay said at the end of Sunday's YES Network broadcast, 'Wow'!" The word applied not only to Mariano Rivera's bases loaded strikeout of Albert Pujols, but to the entire 10 game road trip. The Yankees started the trip 3-1 and ended it 4-6 including a three game sweep at the hands of the Oakland A's. In the process they dropped to third place in the A.L. East behind the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. To say the trip was a disappointment would be an understatement. The good news is, with the exception of a short five game trip starting at the end of July, the Yankees are done with the West Coast portion of their season. No more late night starts, no more Oakland A's and no more CC Sabathia pitching in front of his hometown crowd. Now the Yankees head home and, after an off-day today, they finish out the month with 12 games that will take them to the official midpoint of the season at 81 games. Six of those games are against t...

As New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera continues his farewell tour across the Major League Baseball, he decided to pay his respect one member of the Oakland Athletics organization.
Oakland A's mailroom employee Julie Vasconcellos (who have worked from the A's for 20 years) got a special surprise from Mariano as he delivered a pizza to her.

ANAHEIM, Calif. New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera began his Hall of Fame career in 1995 against the California Angels at Anaheim Stadium. He picked up the first of his 632 career saves 51 weeks later against the Angels at the same ballpark. And if Rivera goes through with plans to retire after this season, one of his most dramatic saves ever came yep, against the Angels at...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Mariano Rivera struck out Albert Pujols with the bases loaded to end the Angels' five-run rally in the ninth inning, and the New York Yankees snapped their five-game losing streak with a wild 6-5 victory over Los Angeles on Sunday.
CC Sabathia pitched five-hit ball into the ninth and Travis Hafner hit a three-run homer off Jered Weaver, but the Yankees...
The 113th US Open at Merion goes to Justin Rose. The course was harder than hitting Mariano Rivera’s cutter and this was evident by no golfer shooting under par. We just completed the second leg of our Best Ball Majors Challenge (via ESPN) and the winner of the US Open Challenge was none other than yours truly (by one stroke). Just because I put the Challenge together doesn’t...

New York Yankees 6 — Los Angeles Angels 5
Every run the Yankees scored today was valuable in today’s 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels. This win ends a five-game losing streak.
In four of the last five games, the Yankees would only manage...

The New York Yankees avoided being swept for the second time in the last week with a win over the Los Angeles Angels in the third and final game of their weekend series on Sunday. Yankees’s closer Mariano Rivera struck out high-priced slugger, Albert Pujols, with the bases loaded and shut down the Angels five-run, ninth- inning rally, earning
The New York Yankees have signed their first round draft pick, prep LHP Ian Clarkin for $1.65M, the slot budget for the pick. One of the more interesting stories of the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft was Clarkin, who immediately after being drafted, had a “whoops” on his introductory tape on MLB.com (skip to the 1:35 mark for expedited service):
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Albert Pujols had an RBI double among his four hits, Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer, and the surging Los Angeles Angels pounded out a season-high 21 hits in an 11-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. Alberto Callaspo matched his career high with four hits, driving in two runs during the Angels' seven-run sixth inning. Peter Bourjos...
Excuse me, but I need to soak my head in a bucket of ice water. We held on - fingers to chalkboard - to beat the Los Angeles, California, Angels of Anaheim, basically because they ran out of young players in the ninth inning, and had to send up old Albert Pujols, who is practically as ancient as Mariano.I worry when balls keep dunking in against Mo. That's what happened. Nobody...
Erick Aybar homered and drove in two runs, and Albert Pujols added two more RBIs in the Los Angeles Angels' 6-2 victory over the Yankees on Saturday night that sent New York to its fifth straight defeat.
Tommy Hanson (4-2) recorded a season-high eight strikeouts while pitching five-hit ball into the seventh inning for the Angels, who have won three straight after a four-game...
