Yankees minor league catcher Austin Romine, one of their top prospects, is out with a mild concussion after he was involved in a collision at home plate this week, according to Jed Weisberger of BaseLines. There is no word on exactly how much time Romine will miss, but since this is a concussion the Yankees will certainly take it slow with him. Hopefully this is truly a minor issue that he recovers from quickly. Concussions are nasty business and the last thing he and the Yankees need is for this to linger. Romine had been putting together a fine season at Double-A Trenton this year, hitting .298 with a .784 OPS. Romine is repeating Double-A as there is no room for him in Triple-A with top prospect Jesus Montero there.
