The New York Yankees hope to finalize an agreement with
outfielder Ichiro Suzuki “within the next few days,” reports Jon Heyman of CBS
The Yankees are hoping to finalize a deal with Ichiro
Suzuki within the next few days.
Beyond the Yankees, there are a few other teams that are
talking to Ichiro, one of which is believed to be the Philadelphia Phillies.
However, Suzuki has “made it known that he wants to be a Yankee,” according to
The Yankees acquired Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners last
season and he went on to experience success in the Bronx. The 39-year-old hit
.322/.340/.454 with 13 doubles and five home runs over 227 at-bats after
joining New York.
Even if the Yankees reach an agreement with Suzuki, Heyman
notes that the team would also like to acquire a right-handed-hitting
outfielder. Cody Ross is one of the names available on the free agent market
that comes immediately to mind.

Robinson Cano is set to become a free agent after the 2013 season and multiple sources feel the Yankees may not be willing to pay him.
Sometimes, it's hard to be a Yankee fan, if you think about what and who you're supporting. For me, the trick is to just close your eyes and think about Yogi. Don't let the other stuff intervene. Just ponder Yogi, and the anxieties will go away.Today, the Scroogebrothers nixed StubHub, the website that represents what for generations was illegal: the crass scalping...
Alex Rodriguez will not have surgery on his hip until mid-January. He knew about the injury during the postseason. Why didn't the New York Yankees and Rodriguez schedule something earlier so he would be back in the lineup earlier in 2013?
According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, part of the reason is "prehab" that was prescribed to Rodriguez. He says that much...
Alex Rodriguez played Santa and gave presents to a group of lucky kids at a toy giveaway in Miami on Saturday, but it was the New York Yankees who got a visit from Christmas past when A-Rod vowed to return from upcoming hip surgery in enough time to lead the team to the World Series — just like in 2009.
The Yankees 37-year-old third baseman, who is scheduled for surgery in mid...

Though he would not offer his own target date to return, Rodriguez told the...

the New York Yankees a hometown discount, and he may very well “bolt the Bronx”

Jones played in 94 games last season for New York, batting .197/294/.408 with 14 home runs and 34 RBIs.
The five-time All-Star and ten-time Gold Glover has 434 home runs...
Saying "I don't know where they get that stuff," the Yankees slugger insists that contrary to rumors, he does not own any paintings that depict him as a Minotaur.
BEHIND ENEMY LINES
What was once unthinkable is now a reality, as the Bronx Bombers have signed Kevin Youkilis to fill in at third base while A-Rod gets healthy.
The Yankees may be able to sign OF Ichiro Suzuki very soon, filling a hole in RF. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, a Major League source says that a deal will in fact happen, and that the Yankees are “all over him.” It’s no secret that Ichiro wants to remain a Yankee, so a deal would be expected soon as Christmas approaches.
Last year, Ichiro was rejuvenated in the...
Alex Rodriguez might not be playing much in 2013, but some rumors about him aren’t ready to be put out to pasture just yet.
The Yankees third baseman hosted an art show at his Miami home during the city’s Art Basel celebration, and some visitors noticed that a couple of fabled paintings weren’t on display. We’re referring, of course, to the rumored artwork of A-Rod as a centaur...
From Joel Sherman:If it needed any further punctuation, the Dodgers established that they — not the Yankees — are the financial heavyweights of baseball yesterday by reaching agreement with Zack Greinke on a six-year, $147 million contract.
Unless the Yankees come out of their economic cocoon, they will not have the largest payroll in the game for the first time since 1998...
From the NY Daily News:
The Yankees could have an answer to their third-base problem shortly and the possibility it’ll be Kevin Youkilis may have gained steam Sunday night when Mark Reynolds reportedly agreed to a deal with the Indians.
Cleveland was viewed as the Yankees’ biggest competition for Youkilis. But CBSsports.com, which first reported Reynolds’ agreement and...
There’s a good chance that Ichiro Suzuki‘s first year in the Bronx won’t be his last.
According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees are showing strong interest in re-signing the 39-year-old outfielder, with one source reportedly saying New York is “all over him.”
Suzuki, who was dealt to the Yankees in July, spent his first 11-plus seasons in Seattle, carving out...
