MLB Injury News:
The New York Yankees continue to actively pursue help at
first and third base, according to Andy Martino of The New York Daily News.
This is so obvious it's hardly worth saying, but also was told that #Yankees still actively seeking 1B and 3B help.
— Andy Martino (@MartinoNYDN) March 21, 2013
Martino terms this news “obvious,” as the Yankees have been
on the hunt for corner infielders since learning Mark Teixeira would have to
start the season on the disabled list. To make matters worse for New York, they
will also begin the year without third baseman Alex Rodriguez and outfielder
When the news of Teixeira’s injury was first released, the
Yankees were tied to several veteran corner infielders – including free agents
Scott Rolen and Derrek Lee and even former Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper
Jones. However, there were no takers, and the Yankees continue their search.
Kevin Youkilis provides the Yankees with some flexibility when
it comes to acquiring a corner infielder, as the offseason acquisition can man
both first and third base. They figure to scour the market for out-of-option
players and others at risk of not breaking camp with their current teams as
Opening Day approaches.

It doesn’t take much to impress the New York Yankees these days, as Chien-Ming Wang just proved inking a one-year minor league deal with the team.
It took Wang all of 12 scoreless innings in the WBC for the Yankees to abolish his past.
Wang has been injured and ineffective for years, as his last decent outing in the majors was...
Derek Jeter is no longer answering reporters’ intrusive questions regarding his foot. (Generally, those questions must go along these lines: “How are you?” “How do you feel?” “What’s up?”) He’s tired of telling reporters his foot doesn’t hurt. The somebiches don’t listen. The Yankees say Jeter might miss opening day, but he hasn’t ruled it out. The team expects...
I haven't squawked much lately because I don't really want to be a Swanny one-note, writing nothing but gloom and doom about the state of the Yankees. Especially when it comes to the madness of Brian Cashman. He is a terrible general manager, but our lousy front office seems to be fine with no matter what he does. And the media gives Cashman a pass, too -- more than they...
As Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia continues to work towards the overall goal of being on the hill on Monday, April 1, when the American League East rival Boston Red Sox make the trip down to the Bronx for Opening Day, the southpaw increases his workload, one outing at a time.
While his teammates took on the Red Sox at Steinbrenner Field on Wednesday, Sabathia, in an organizational...
Minnesota Twins 6 — New York Yankees 1
David Phelps couldn’t finish the 4th inning in tonight’s 6-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
The Yankees offense was non-existent in tonight’s game. The World Baseball Classic MVP from the Dominican Republic, Robinson Cano, returned to the lineup tonight and got the only hit for the Yankees. Cano would score on a flyball to left field...
A string of bad luck has struck the New York Yankees and now Derek Jeter may start 2013 on the disabled list.
Worried, upset, concerned, just a few words that describe Yankees fans to start the season.
While the progress of Yankee captain Derek Jeter, returning from a broken left ankle suffered in Game One of last October’s American League Championship Series, had been a mostly...
Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports that Major League Baseball “is honing in on Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun as two main targets” in their investigation of an anti-aging clinic in Miami called Biogenesis that is run by Anthony Bosch. Passan writes that, “in addition to being the two biggest names in the Biogenesis logbooks, Rodriguez and Braun have in the past provided MLB...
Is Cano or Cespedes going to have the better year?
Robinson Cano has been one of the best hitters in baseball over past several years. His three year averages: .311/.370/.539, 30 HR, 107 RBI, 104 runs, and 5 sB. The 30/100/100 mark is a milestone and when someone averages that over three years in an increasingly pitching dominated era, it’s incredible. He has finished 3rd...
Just a few months removed from a memorable Christmas, Andruw and Nicole Jones are making headlines once again.
After an unpleasant event on Christmas Eve, resulting in Andruw dragging his wife down the stairs by her ankles after she tried to get away from him and threatening to kill her, according to reports Nicole Jones has filed for a divorce.

Derek Jeter's ankle will keep him out of Major League exhibition games for the rest of spring training. He will play only in minor league games the rest of the way out. The move comes after Jeter felt soreness in his ankle and an inflammation was discovered.
Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports says the move to have Jeter play in minor league games could be strategic. By...
Do you remember the last time you saw pitcher Chien-Ming Wang wear the New York Yankees pinstripes?

It was on July 4, 2009 and Wang went five innings, gave up two runs, struck out three, walked three and hit a batter before being removed from the game. He was posted his lowest ERA of the 2009 season, a 10.04.
Well, the Yankees...
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Vernon Wells might become the latest addition to the New York Yankees' injury-depleted lineup.
As the Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 in 10 innings Sunday behind a pair of Kevin Youkilis home runs, New York was negotiating with the Los Angeles Angels to acquire the outfielder.
A person familiar with the negotiations, speaking on condition of anonymity...
Desperate times calls for desperate measures, and make no mistakes about it, this is a move of desperation by the New York Yankees.
Earlier, we reported that Yankees shortstop and captain Derek Jeter, will almost certainly miss the beginning of the season because he has yet to fully recover from a broken ankle he suffered in the postseason late last year.
The Bronx Bombers are...
