Yankees shortstop Eduardo Nunez bruised his right wrist Friday night when he hit by a pitch in the second inning of New York's game against Baltimore.
Nunez was hit by a pitch from Miguel Gonzalez and was checked out by Yankees trainers for several minutes before heading to first base. He went to his position for the third inning and attempted one warmup throw that barely reached first baseman Lyle Overbay. Nunez shook his head and signaled toward the Yankees bench as he walked off the field.
X-rays were negative. Jayson Nix took over at shortstop.
Nunez did not start two games against Detroit after being hit in the right biceps by a pitch on April 12. He has been filling in for Derek Jeter, who is rehabilitating a broken ankle.

From D.J. Short:While Curtis Granderson threw today for this first time since his broken right forearm, another big bat in the Yankees’ lineup is inching closer to a return.

They're the little team that believed. The pluck-filled Yankees, enjoying their underfunded, underdog status, are feeling pretty prime these days. Pretty pretty pretty prime. A bunch of knowitalls said this team was dead. But look: Riding tall at .500, with a two-game, rain-helped sweep in Swishertown. Three in a row, baby. Three in a row. Meanwhile, we won't have to worry...

A spokesman for Alex Rodriguez Friday denied a New York Times report that the Yankees star was involved with purchasing documents related to the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic in South Florida.
The Times, citing two people briefed on the situation, reported that a representative of Rodriguez bought the documents to keep them away from Major League Baseball investigators. Biogenesis...
Clearly, even Mother Nature had seen just about all she could stomach of the Yankees’ geriatric merry-go-round this week, washing out the last two nights of what was easily the most disappointing home opening series at Progressive Field since the time everybody just said “screw it” and played at Miller Park instead.
It’s now officially been a full five years since the Indians...
The Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees will play a traditional doubleheader on May 13 at Progressive Field.
The doubleheader, which will begin at 12:05 p.m., became necessary when the April 10-11 games in Cleveland were postponed by rain. The May 13 date is one of the few mutual off-days for the two teams. The Indians play in Detroit on May 12 and begin a series in Philadelphia...
Joe Girardi says he has no plans to address his players about reports that Alex Rodriguez allegedly tried to buy clinic documents in the Biogenesis scandal in order to get rid of evidence.
The New York Yankees manager made it clear that the latest flap involving his rehabbing third baseman is something he will distance from his club.
"It's an MLB issue," Girardi said...
