The heartbeat is weak but the muscle continues to pump. Thanks to a four-run eighth-inning rally Wednesday night at the Rogers Centre that carried the Yankees to a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Blue Jays in front of an announced crowd of 24247 the Yankees remain on the edge of the AL wild-card race. The victory which went to David Huff stopped a four-game losing streak for the Yankees who start the struggling and fatigued Hiroki Kuroda on Thursday night. David Robertson retired the first two batters in the eighth and gave up a ground single to Rajai Davis. He stole second and manager Joe Girardi went to Mariano Rivera with the count 1-0 on Brett Lawrie. Rivera required two pitches to get Lawrie out on a grounder to the right side but ran into serious trouble in the ninth. Adam Lind bounced a leadoff single to center on a 1-2 pitch and Colby Rasmus lined the next pitch to right for a single. Munenori Kawasaki hit for Moises Sierra in what Blue Jays manager John Gibbons decided was a bunting situation. Kawasaki’s bunt was fielded by first baseman Lyle Overbay who forced pinch-runner Kevin Pillar at third. Ryan Goins’ grounder to the right side moved the runners to second and third for J.P. Arencibia. Rivera fanned him on three pitches to end the game. J.A. Happ a lefty the Yankees handled three times this year looked like Sandy Koufax through seven scoreless innings. He was lifted for Aaron Loop after giving up a ground-rule double to Brendan Ryan to start the eighth. Granderson greeted the left-handed Loop with a single that put runners at the corners and brought right-hander Steve Delabar to the mound for Alex Rodriguez.
