Chanhopark
According to Jayson Stark of ESPN, the Yankees have been shopping their reliever Chan Ho Park. Don’t expect miracles. Of course they are shopping Park, he’s been terrible this season. Combine that with a thin free agent market for relievers and the Yankees GM Brian Cashman thinks he’ll be able to get something for him. It’s better to try this than to simply DFA him, but he probably won’t get anyone of any significance in return. All it really would accomplish is that they wouldn’t have to pay him. Park is 37 and has a 5.57 ERA in 25 appearances this season. He is pitching on a $1.2 million one-year contract. He isn’t going to come close to being either a Type-A or B free agent so it’s not like he’s really worth anything at all. The best thing you could say about Park right now is that he has a 1.93 ERA over his last eight appearances dating back to June 29th.
