MLB Injury News:
The New York Yankees recently recalled left-hander David Huff to replace Dellin Betances in their bullpen. To make room for Huff on their roster, New York transferred right-hander David Phelps to the 60-day disabled list, according to Andy McCullough of The Star-Ledger.
Phelps has been on the DL since the beginning of July with a strained forearm. Initially, the Yankees thought he'd only be required to miss one start as a result of the ailment, but his last appearance was on July 4. He's since started a rehab program only to suffer a setback in what was expected to be his final start in the minors prior to activation.
After experiencing soreness in his throwing elbow earlier this month, the Yankees have shut down Phelps to allow time for the discomfort to subside. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters that he still expects Phelps to rejoin the team this season, but he doesn't believe it will be until later into the month of September.
Prior to hitting the DL, Phelps struggled this season. Over 18 appearances -- including 12 starts -- the 26-year-old posted an ERA and WHIP of 5.01 and 1.427. He was far more effective in his rookie campaign last year, maintaining marks of 3.34 and 1.194 over 99 2/3 innings.

Deadspin has suggested that MLB has considered using instant replay for calls that aren’t balls or strikes. The question becomes, is this good or bad for baseball? I will take an objective approach to this question, although it will be tough for me since I am a baseball purist.
Let me begin with a quote. “Baseball is only a game. True. And the grand canyon is only a hole in...
Alex Rodriguez may not have a lot to say to Major League Baseball but behind closed doors, A-Rod is allegedly a regular chatterbox when it comes to giving New York Yankees teammate Robinson Cano career advice.
A-Rod has reportedly been spreading the word behind the scenes that Cano should give pause about re-signing with the Yankees and explore the free-agent market.
Note to radio producers: If you’re going to have a former Major League Baseball player on your program to talk about a sensitive topic such as performance-enhancing drugs, it might be a good idea to vet them, first. ESPN Radio 104.5 in Albany, N.Y., failed to do just that, and got burned in a pretty spectacular way Tuesday.

When asked if shortstop Derek Jeter will rejoin the New York Yankees' lineup by Sunday night, manager Joe Girardi told reporters -- including Kieran Darcy of ESPN New York -- that he "wouldn't think so." The skipper also wasn't willing to commit that Jeter will be available in time to be activated next week, as he continues to recover from the calf ailment...
According to the NY Daily News, there was one course of action that MLB could have taken that Alex Rodriguez would not fight. Mainly because it was a course of action that Rodriguez and his team birthed.
Rodriguez was reportedly prepared to accept an 80 to 100 game suspension from MLB. And as soon as the suspension was up, he would immediately retire. Other than the light suspension...
We knew the news that Derek Jeter possibly being engaged would lead to pandemonium in New York City, but little did I know…
The Red Sox have had their way with the Yankees this year, winning 6 of 9 games. Hopefully, that comes to and end when the Yankees go into Fenway for this weekend's three game series. The Yankees trail Boston by 8.5 games in the Division and 5.5 games out of the wild card. Safe to say, this is make or break time for this year's Yankees. That said, they have played better...
Alfonso Soriano goes back to being mortal.
CJ Wilson was decent enough to eek out a win. The Halos bullpen made it much more eek worthy than needed.
Recently it seems that our manager has no idea how to manage a bullpen (I know I am being redundant). Mike's new plan is that every bullpen clown gets to face one batter and then move on. I don't know how this play's...
BOSTON — As the case against Alex Rodriguez as a baseball player and human being grows, the Yankees slugger was left taking a wide range of questions Friday night.
Rodriguez fielded queries about the latest accusations against him, a 60 Minutes report that he implicated teammate Francisco Cervelli and Brewers star Ryan Braun in MLB’s Biogenesis investigation. But he also was...
The New York Yankees might have just found one way to rid themselves of Alex Rodriguez — the editing room.
Rodriguez, who did his own voice work as himself in the upcoming animated Yankees film "Henry & Me," will be removed from the film's final version due to fears from investors that the third baseman — who is currently appealing a 211-game suspension for...
Coming home to face the New York Yankees should provide the Boston Red Sox with plenty of motivation to bounce back from a rough road trip.
Looking to avoid matching a season-high third straight defeat, the Red Sox try to continue their season success against the archrival Yankees on Friday night.
Boston (72-51) has a two-game lead over Tampa Bay in the AL East, but went 4-6 at...
''60 Minutes'' is reporting that members of Alex Rodriguez's
