Found June 28, 2012 on Fox Sports:
The New York Yankees have purchased the contract of right-hander Adam Warren from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre, and he'll take ace CC Sabathia's turn in the rotation Friday for his first big league start. A day after the Yankees were hit with a double whammy of injuries to their starting staff, New York placed Andy Pettitte on the 60-day disabled list Thursday before playing the Chicago White Sox because of a broken left fibula. They recalled right-hander Ryota Igarashi from their top farm club. Sabathia strained his groin June 24 and didn't tell anyone until it bothered him during his bullpen session Tuesday. He should be out until shortly after the All-Star break. Freddy Garcia will make a start for Pettitte on Monday after being demoted from the rotation at the end of April. Pettitte was injured Wednesday and could be out up to eight weeks.

3 things Yankees fans need to worry about regarding CC’s injury

English: CC Sabathia (Photo credit: Wikipedia) At the start of the 2012 season, I asked my father, ‘what could be the worst thing to happen to the New York Yankees this season?’ He responded without even taking a breath, “CC Sabathia getting injured.” So when the news broke, prior to today’s third and final afternoon romp with the Cleveland Indians, that CC Sabathia was...

Yankees put CC Sabathia on DL with groin strain

The Yankees have placed ace CC Sabathia on the 15-day disabled list because he has a strained groin. General manager Brian Cashman says the left-hander felt a twinge on Sunday night in the fourth inning of a game against the New York Mets. However, he didn't tell anyone about it until after he could still feel discomfort following his bullpen session on Tuesday. Manager Joe...

Sabathia lands on DL with sore elbow

New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation and pain in his elbow. Manager Joe Girardi announced the decision after New York beat the Blue Jays Saturday for their fourth consecutive win. Neither a corresponding roster move, nor a starter for Monday's game against Texas, has been announced. Sabathia, 12-3 with a 3.56...

Yankees place Sabathia on DL

New York Yankees' left-hander CC Sabathia was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left adductor muscle. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Sabathia is likely to return after the All-Star break and would miss only two starts. An MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain. Sabathia (9-3, 3.55 ERA) felt pain in his groin area during his last start but didn't inform the team...

C.C. Sabathia and Andy Pettite Go Down With Injury, Red Sox Look to Take Advantage

Losing one All-Star pitcher is difficult enough. Losing two in the same day? That just seems unfair. On Wednesday the New York Yankees learned that they would be without the services of ace C.C. Sabathia for at least two turns in the rotation due to a pulled leg muscle, and will also lose Andy Pettite for at least six weeks after taking a Casey Kotchman liner off his leg. If you...

New York Yankees: Conquering injuries

Before the Yankees completed a 3-game sweep of the Cleveland Indians yesterday the news broke that ace CC Sabathia was headed for the 15-DL. And if that wasn’t enough to swallow during the 5th inning, veteran southpaw Andy Pettitte took a line drive off his left lower leg; and everyone in Yankee Stadium froze. Pettitte threw just one more pitch; a perfect strike but the 40-year...

Warren Is Soaring

ROCHESTER, NY - The seasons have just changed. Spring has come and gone leaving behind cool conditions and occasional snow delays for Triple-A Scranton. Summer’s scorching heat is now upon us and right-hander Adam Warren could not be happier. The warmer weather reminds him of his days growing up in the South and pitching for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, and soon...

New York Yankees Lose Sabathia, Pettitte

Remember at the beginning of spring training when the New York Yankees had more rotation depth than any team in baseball? A lot can change in five months and the Yankees went from having a wealth of rotation depth to the equivalent of one of those houses the two guys from American Pickersvisit on the routine basis — rundown and shattered. Big CC will be on the shelf for two weeks...

Sabathia, Pettitte Latest Victims of ALE Injury Bug

Pitchers get hurt all the time, but I think we can all agree that CC Sabathia was on the short list of guys who we would expect to make every start in a given season. He’s been a workhorse of the first order for the last decade, but yesterday a twinge in his left groin sent him to the disabled list for the third time in his career and first time since 2006. The Yankees insist that...

Mustang had it right: We are facing the Curse of Hope Week

Last year, during Hope Week, the Yankiverse was stunned to hear the news of Hideki Irabu's suicide. This year, we lose Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia in one day.As Goldfinger told James Bond, "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and three times is a frickin' Yankee curse."I'm calling it a three-way. It's a curse. Don't get me wrong. I'm not...

Jimenez, Indians fall short to Yankees

NEW YORK (AP) -- Andy Pettitte broke his ankle on the same day the Yankees put CC Sabathia on the disabled list, and Robinson Cano hit a go-ahead homer to help New York beat the Cleveland Indians 5-4 Wednesday for a three-game sweep. The Yankees have to face at least two starts without Sabathia and at least six weeks without Pettitte, who fractured a bone in his ankle in the fifth...
