If you believe what it says in an article in today's New York Daily News, the New York Yankees could be up for sale in the near future. If a sale happens (and, I don't believe it will) one of the big questions a new owner will get is "What things, if any, will be different under your watch?" I started thinking about this after I read the article. If changes are made, you could see some shocking things, such as:Names on the back of uniforms No more Old Timers DayFacial hair on the playersBut there may also be welcome changes:Replacing John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman on the radio broadcastThe end of God Bless America  (Trust me, I'm not anti-American!)Better relationships with fan bloggers, and with individuals like Bald VinnyThere are probably better examples than these. What are they? Leave your comments below.Other Notes:* Everyone is talking about the 2 home runs Alex Rodriguez hit last night against the Royals. Was it the start of something big? I don't ...

Alex Rodriguez Making Good Use of Candles & Flashlights During His Power Outage

Is Alex Rodriguez Samson, the Biblical character whose supernatural strength disappeared when Delilah cut off his hair?  When I hear the media talk about him these days, that's what comes to mind. I think of the hair as Alex's use of PEDs, and Delilah as Selena Roberts.Whether the lack of PEDs is the reason for his average offense is hard to say at this point, but Alex...

Steinbrenner says Yankees not for sale

The New York Yankees aren't for sale. Managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner said Thursday that his family has no intention of selling the historic franchise. Steinbrenner's comments come in response to a New York Daily News report, which said that rumors are swirling that Steinbrenner's family is looking into the possibility of selling the team. "I just...

Yankees Sale Would Make Sense

Geroge Steinbrenner once compared the Yankees to the Mona Lisa. “Once you own it, you never sell it.” Apparently, his children did not always pay attention to his lessons. Yesterday morning, the baseball world awoke to the shocking revelation in the New York Daily News that Hal Steinbrenner, who has taken over as managing general partner in the last few years, is exploring...

Yankees power past Royals 8-3

Alex Rodriguez gave Will Smith a rude welcome to the major leagues Wednesday night, hitting two homers off the rookie to back another strong start for Andy Pettitte and lead the New York Yankees over the Kansas City Royals 8-3. A-Rod snapped a 52 at-bat homerless drought and drove in three runs for New York. Curtis Granderson also connected off Smith and the Yankees scored three...

Top-10 possible Yankees owner (Not Really)

Since rumors are out, I've decided to create a list with ten possible new owners for the New York Yankees: 10.) The Soup Nazi (Seinfeld): This should be fun to watch. You struck out?, no more soup for you. You gave up a home run?, no more soup for you. But that's pretty much it. 9.) Indiana Jones: The guy is a badass, an educated badass. Among other things, he would be...

Because It’s Friday, Here’s A Guy Eating A Cheeseburger With The Wrapper On

“Shoenice” (he’s the one in the video wearing a shirt with SHOENICE across the front) is a comedian from upstate New York and a Yankees fan who has amassed a decent amount of side-eyed Internet fame for eating random sh*t — bottles of Elmer’s Glue, tampons, an entire box of crayons, etc. — and while it’s not even remotely related to sports I’m gonna quote the NEW...

Cano homers, Yankees edge Royals 3-2 behind Hughes

NEW YORK (AP) -- Robinson Cano homered, Phil Hughes beat Kansas City for the second time this month and the New York Yankees -- still looking to bust out with the bats -- eked out a 3-2 victory over the Royals on Tuesday night. Derek Jeter delivered a bases-loaded single that tied the score in the fifth inning and New York rallied from an early two-run deficit to snap a three-game...

Wezen-Ball: The Yankees' Fictional Sale by Larry Granillo

The New York Daily News made waves on Thursday, when they cited unnamed sources in publishing a story stating that the Steinbrenners were "exploring the possibility of selling the Yankees." With the $2 billion sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers recently, the Daily News reported that "experts estimate [the club] could be worth up to a stunning $3 billion." If you...
