According to Ed Price, the Yankees have placed Chad Gaudin on waivers. If he clears, the Yankees can send him to Triple-A. They would still be on the hook for his $2.95M salary, however. Another option the team would have, assuming he clears, is that they can release him. Then, they would only be forced to pay about 1/4 of Gaudin’s annual salary. Sergio Mitre has been solid this spring and is a cheaper alternative for the bullpen, so I’m not too surprised by the move.
