Found April 18, 2012 on Fox Sports:
The New York Yankees are set to switch up their road uniforms for the first time as part of Friday's celebration of Fenway Park's 100-year anniversary. The road grays will have the Yankees logo on it, instead of the trademark "NEW YORK" across the front. The jerseys are modeled after the ones worn by the 1912 New York Highlanders, which officially became the Yankees the following year. The Bronx Bombers will also wear a gray hat with a navy blue NY on the front, and a navy blue bill. The Red Sox will also wear throwback uniforms to start the three-game series, but photos of the jerseys have not yet been released. The Red Sox have planned a host of pre-game festivities to honor baseball's oldest ballpark, including an attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest toast in one venue. On Wednesday, the team will place 100 white balloons randomly around the city, each containing a pair of tickets to an upcoming Red Sox game. Five will hold tickets to Friday afternoon's anniversary game for the lucky fans who can find them.

Rumor: Yankees not planning extension talks with Martin

As is their usual style, the Yankees don’t plan on discussing an extension with Russell Martin, who will be a free agent after this year, during the season, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. This is not much of a surprise, but the latest trend in baseball is to lock up players before they hit the market so it’s not crazy to check in on this. As long as there are other...

A look at Yankees infielder Eduardo Nunez

Of all the high-priced talent and personalities who may or may not live up to their reputations on the 2012 Yankees, one player in particular seems to incessantly enrage the fan base.  Any moment he takes the field, the fans see him as an accident waiting to happen.  Debuting with the Yanks in 2010, Eduardo Nunez has been somewhat of an enigma. Touted in the minors as a defensive...

Hughes focusing on making fastball a priority again

After struggling for a year and a half in the rotation, Phil Hughes earned himself some praise this spring for the way he pitched, but most fans, myself included, have all but written him off by this point and are counting down the days until Andy Pettitte and Michael Pineda will come back to knock him out of the rotation. Pettitte and Pineda aren’t back yet though so for now...

Fans Running Onto The Field: Scary Possibilities

Last night at Yankee Stadium someone ran out onto the field during the Twins-Yankees game. Just as other TV networks do, the YES Network cameras did not show the jerk in action. They instead kept their focus on the Yankees, who were in the field at the time. A few seconds into the distraction they zoomed in on CC Sabathia, standing on the mound, watching security trying to catch...

New York Yankees: Lose to Ron Gardenhire and lose Brett Gardner

A LOSE/LOSE FOR THE YANKEES… Brett Gardner makes a outstretched catch during a game between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles on April 24, 2011. (Photo credit: Wikipedia) It was a double whammy in the Bronx, as the New York Yankees lost to the Minnesota Twins for the second time this week 5-6; and minutes after the game ESPN New York’s Andrew Marchand tweeted that...

Derek Jeter has a lot of personal accomplishments. He’s a Rookie of the Year, a All-Star game MVP and a World Series MVP, he’s won five championships and now can add doctor to his resume. That’s because Siena will give Jeter an honoary doctorate during its commencement this May 13, according to an AP report. Siena gave Jeet the fugazi degree, “in recognition of his leadership...

Will The Yankees Fans Switch Their Boos From Tebow To The Team?

The New York Yankees are off to a .500 start in the 2012 season. The team is playing .500 both on the road and at home. A few days ago there was a big deal made out of the Yankees fans booing Tim Tebow and Dwayne Wade. I wonder of the fans were switching the focus from the team to the people in attendance. The New York Yankees have been a great team for years. The Yankees have won...

Red-hot Jeter powering Yankees

It was before the Yankees' second game of the season -- just 24 hours into their reconnaissance mission against the Rays (which, by the way, ended in a disastrous sweep). Derek Jeter took one look at the lineup card and saw he'd been busted down a rank to DH for the day. Jeter never said a word about the enforced rest, but the expression on his face required no forensic...

Can Yankees Phil Hughes not tank tonight?

LAST GAME vs. TWINS: Phil Hughes during pregame warmups prior to a game between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles on August 29, 2011 (Photo credit: Wikipedia) The New York Yankees are down 1-2 games to the Minnesota Twins, so at best they can split the four-game set but that entails winning the game tonight. Winning is something the Yankees know how to do, and especially...

New York Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson homered in his first three at-bats in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Granderson clubbed a solo homer in the first inning, a two-run shot in the second and another solo blast in the fourth to give New York a 7-4 lead. He singled in the sixth inning in his bid for his fourth consecutive home run. It was the first...
