INSIDER: The Yankees have gone 5-2 on their recent road trip. They have taken 3 out of 4 from the Cleveland Indians. Tonight they beat the Tribe 5-2 and are 1 game ahead of the Red Sox in the division. The Yankees have set a MLB record with 18 straight error less games. Ready for another stat? Over the Yanks last 19 games the bombers have gone 10-1 and pitchers have averaged a 3.37 ERA and hitters have batted .235 overall.

ON THE MOUND:

Joba Chamberlain started and pitched a major league high 8 innings to pick up his 3rd win of the season. He allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 5. Chamberlain threw 106 pitches and 66 for strikes. Meanwhile, many of you want him in the pen? That's wasted talent! Nick Swisher during his interview after the game said he considers Joba Mania more of a starting pitcher right now.

Joba's stuff was electric tonight. The best I've from him all year. His fastball consistently topped out at 98 MPH and both his curve and slider were tremendous all night.

Early on Chamberlain had shut down 11 straight batters until Victor Martinez took him deep to break up his perfect game and tie the score at 1-1.

In the 5th, Joba allowed the first two batters to reach. Kelly Shoppach then bunted a ball straight up in the air and all you see is Joba leave his feet as he made an outstanding diving play. (more like a belly flop) and then doubled up the runner at second base. All the Yankees, including myself had a great laugh. Nick Swisher said he even felt the ground shake. (Ha ha). After, the Yankees called for a pitch out and they guessed right as Posada threw out Carroll stealing second. Chamberlain was helped defensively all game. Jeter ranging to his left up the middle twice, Berroa with a nice 360 play and Teixeira with some nice scoops and a hot shot play over at first base that he was able to gobble up. The other run he allowed came on a RBI ground out.

Mariano Rivera closed out the 9th for his 11th save of the season. In the inning, Mo made a great play himself. Choo hit a high chopper over the mound and Mariano came up with a over the head catch and fired to first for the last out of the ball game.

THE OFFENSE:

The Yankees got on board in the third when Nick Swisher ran into a run scoring double play.

The Yanks missed an oppertunity to score in the 6th as they loaded the bases with no outs to knock Sowers out of the game and failed to score as Greg Aquino retired 3 outs without allowing a run to score.

In the 7th, with the score still tied at 1-1 and the bases loaded, Nick Swisher came through with a clutch 2-run double to left. He had JUST missed a grandslam. Still, pinch runner Pena came around to score along with Gardner. Jeter went to third on the play. Aquino then walked Mark Teixeira to re-load the bases. Alex Rodriguez who had struck out in the previous inning with the bases loaded and no outs followed through on a 2-run single to make it 5-1 Yankees.

The bombers walked a total of 11 times in the game.

Derek Jeter extended his hitting streak to 15 games. Mark Teixeira has now hit in 14 straight.
