Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Clay Buchholz was pushed back again from a tentative Sunday start against the Orioles, but he will pitch on Tuesday. Maybe. The Red Sox cannot quite say for certain that Buchholz’ sore neck, which was feeling better yesterday, will improve enough to throw a full bullpen session on Sunday and then be good to go in one of the games of the doubleheader against the Rays at Fenway next Tuesday. “I wish I could say it’s going to be a concrete thing for Tuesday,” Sox manager John Farrell said before last night’s 5-4, 13-inning loss to Baltimore. “We feel like two additional days will be time to get over the soreness. But we won’t put him out there until he’s symptom-free.” Farrell said that Buchholz’ AC joint is not part of the problem, but that soreness in the base of the neck muscle on his right side is lingering. Herald: Clay Buchholz pushed back again This Buchholz situation keeps dragging and dragging. With his likely (but not 100% sure) start on Tuesday, that will make it 10 days since Buchholz last pitched. According to my calculations, that's really close to 15 days...or as some call it, a DL-stint. Why hasn't he been placed on the DL? Why are they playing this merry-go-round game of swaping in pitchers? We've seen Jose De La Torre, Alredo Aceves, and Alex Wilson; and they still need more arms. These minor leaguers must love this game too. Poor Wilson had a horrible travel day yesterday (as you'll read below) and now he will likely be shipped back to Pawtucket.  It would make sense to just bite the bullet and stash Buchholz on the 15-day DL for the extra roster spot and get him back up to speed. But what do I know? Rest of the links: Globe: Red Sox, Orioles Rivalry getting interesting | Globe: Red Sox stick with Stephen Drew | Globe: Red Sox once again need pitching help | Herald: O's have it in extras | Herald: Xander Bogaerts earns promotion | Herald: Alex Wilson’s long journey gives relief to Sox pen | CSNNE.com: Orioles outlast Red Sox in 13, 5-4 | CSNNE.com: Wilson's long day ends with a loss in 13th |
