DALLAS Starting pitching is one of the three areas manager Ron Washington would like to see the Texas Rangers upgrade this offseason.

There are several possibilities for who could be manning center field in 2012 for the two-time defending AL champion Texas Rangers, and none of them are Josh Hamilton.
The club made the move last season to try to curb Hamilton's time in center and play him more in left field to try to prevent injury. Of course, he injured himself sliding head-first into home and missed a month...

Seventy years ago today, perhaps the greatest pitcher of the 20th century announced his retirement: Lefty Grove.
Grove had the nasty tendency to have circumstances beyond his control cause him get less attention than he deserved. It’s odd for that to be the case for a great player, but it was the case for Grove.
As a minor leaguer, he was by far the best prospect in the game...
