Umpire admits mistake on Hannahan foul ball

In the seventh inning of last night’s game, Tribe third baseman Jack Hannahan hit a foul ball into the seats on the third base side. Yankees left fielder Dewayne Wise leaped into the stands and got leather on the ball, but did not make the catch. That didn’t stop umpire Mike DiMuro from calling it a catch however. Hannahan would be tossed later in the game for arguing the call...

Report: Hafner to begin rehab assignment

Travis Hafner will begin a rehab assignment tonight in Columbus. No timetable has been given for his return, but it is safe to say 3-5 games would be about right. Hafner was placed on the DL May 30th, and underwent a right medial meniscectomy (knee) on the 31st. It was generally assumed that Hafner would be back right after the All-Star break, but if he has no set-backs on his rehab...

Damon heating up for Indians

In the first six games of the current 10-game road trip, the Indians struggled to score runs and, not surprisingly, lost most of the games. They lost five of the first six games on the trip, which concludes with a four-game series in Baltimore that began Thursday night with a 7-2 Indians victory.Going into the game, only one American League team had hit fewer home runs than the 61...

Indians’ Struggles By The Numbers

Taking a page from Rick’s book today, I’m here with some illustrious stats about the Cleveland Indians. These aren’t the prettiest, so you might want to spare your kids from seeing these. -51 – Indians’ run differential this season, sixth-worst in MLB. The team with the sixth-worst record is Houston at 32-43 (.427). 12-3 (.800) – CLE’s record in one-run games, the best...

Indians Roster Moves: Vinny Rottino claimed off waivers, Chris Schwinden DFA’d

We saw some moves coming up soon, but this likely isn’t what we were looking for. The Indians made a pair of small moves today, as they claimed IF/OF Vinny Rottino off outright waivers from the New York Mets. The versatile 32-year-old journeyman is expected to join the AAA Columbus roster and, of course, will be on the 40-man roster. In 511 career AAA games, he’s a .294/.360...

Box Score: Orioles 9, Indians 8

Tribe pitcher Derek Lowe couldn’t snap out of his recent funk, allowing seven runs (but just four were earned!) in 5 and 1-3 inning and the Tribe lost in Baltimore 9-8. But despite Lowe allowing seven runs for third time in five starts, the Tribe, who had a season high 16 hits, were tied heading into the bottom of the 7th. But Joe Smith allowed the go-ahead run in and Chris Perez...

Kipnis Shakes Things Up At Second Base

Last season was a banner year for second basemen in terms of fantasy baseball. The usual suspects (Cano, Pedroia, Kinsler, Phillips) all had excellent years, while guys like Ben Zobrist, Howie Kendrick, and Ryan Roberts also put up big years. Coming into 2012, second base was a position fantasy owners felt like they could count on for big production in the middle infield. Unfortunately...

A Little Help for Chris Perez

So Chris Perez is confused about Cleveland fans again. We’ve already been over the Indians closer’s incredibly myopic complaints about attendance at Progressive Field that he renewed in a recent interview with Tyler Kepner of the New York Times, but now Perez is complaining about the attendance at Cleveland Browns Stadium as well. “I don’t understand,” Perez told Kepner...
