“The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled RHP Zach McAllister from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers. To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians optioned LHP Scott Barnes to Triple-A Columbus after yesterday’s game in New York.
McAllister, 24, has spent the majority of the season with the ATriple-AAA Columbus Clippers where he has gone 5-2 with a 2.98 ERA in 11 starts (63.1IP, 59H, 21ER, 5HR, 19BB, 52K, .251AVG). His ERA (2.98) ranked 8th in the International League following his last start on June 23. He made 4 starts with the Indians from May 7-24 where he was 1-1 with a 3.96 ERA (25.0IP, 25H, 11ER, 6BB, 22K, .255AVG) and recorded his first Major League win on May 7 (day) vs. Chicago-AL. After returning to Triple-A on May 25 he has gone 2-1 w/a 3.18 ERA in 5 starts for the Clippers (28.1IP, 29H, 10ER). He is in Baltimore for his first career start vs. the Orioles tonight. He wears #34.

In the seventh inning of last night’s game, Tribe third baseman Jack Hannahan hit a foul ball into the seats on the third base side. Yankees left fielder Dewayne Wise leaped into the stands and got leather on the ball, but did not make the catch. That didn’t stop umpire Mike DiMuro from calling it a catch however.

Travis Hafner will begin a rehab assignment tonight in Columbus. No timetable has been given for his return, but it is safe to say 3-5 games would be about right.
Hafner was placed on the DL May 30th, and underwent a right medial meniscectomy (knee) on the 31st.
It was generally assumed that Hafner would be back right after the All-Star break, but if he has no set-backs on his rehab...

Indians place Chisenhall on DL
The Cleveland Indians have placed third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall on the 15-day disabled list with a broken bone in his right forearm.
The injury occurred Friday night when Baltimore Orioles left-hander Troy Patton hit Chisenhall with a fastball. Chisenhall fractured his right ulna, an injury that will sideline him for four to six weeks.
