Nationals-stephen
The Washington Nationals possess a special talent for leaving you wanting more. Even on a day when they tattoo line drives and mash home runs when Stephen Strasburg throws a curveball that appears to be guided by some dark force they manage to make themselves sweat the final outcome. They have grown creative even in victory at obscuring their own bright spots. Sunday afternoon a 6-4 victory over the Miami Marlins included as much frustration as celebration. Strasburg (7-9) allowed four hits and struck out seven over six innings but he worked around a bizarre second inning in which he balked home two runs. Nationals' Bryce Harper will miss at least two more games

The Washington Nationals can breathe a sigh of relief.  Once again, the news surrounding what could have been a devastating injury to their young star outfielder, Bryce Harper, was better than expected.  He received the results of the MRI on his hip yesterday, and while he will have to miss at least two more games, things could have been worse. Mark Zuckerman of Nats Insider...

Roark stars in first major league start as Nationals beat the Marlins, 9-2

At the trade deadline in 2010 Tanner Roark amounted to what baseball people call “inventory” — a spare arm to suck up innings in the bushes. It only took a journeyman infielder for the Washington Nationals to pry him and another Class AA pitcher from the Texas Rangers. Roark refused to the let the label stick. He climbed up the Nationals’ farm system. He earned an invitation...
