MIKE MUSSINA RUMORS & GOSSIP

Pettitte Wants To Make Sure He's Done

From Mark Feinsand:After Mike Mussina retired following his first 20-win season, Pettitte considered going out on top after helping the Yankees capture their 27th World Series title. There was only one problem: he wasn’t ready to hang up his spikes.“There’s no doubt it did. I couldn’t have wrote a script any better than the way last year ended,” Pettitte said. “I was like...

Who's The Better Pitcher - Part 2

The other day I listed the respective stats for 2 unnamed pitchers, asking the question who people thought was the better one based on their stats. The stats were based on their career stats and were for a 162 game average. I took them from their respective pages at baseball-reference.com. ...

Is Mike Mussina a Hall of Famer?

I don't know. But if I had to make a decision right now, I would say that he belongs in the Hall of Fame. I think after a few years, when we see that pitchers aren't coming close to 300 wins, aren't coming as close as Mike Mussina, he'll get voted in. Mussina goes out on his terms

"I never got a chance to win a world championship. I never got a chance to win a Cy Young Award. On the last day of my career I finally won 20 games. There's some nice things I've been able to do. I think I've done as much as I'm capable of doing at the [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Mussina goes out on his terms", url: "http://www.tireball.com/behindthedugout/2008/11/21/mussina...

Elect Mike Mussina

Joel Sherman at the NY Post posted another "is Mike Mussina a HOFer" article on his Hardball blog. At this time, Sherman sees Mussina "slightly on the wrong side of the Hall borderline," lying in a "gulf between greatness and immortality." He mentions that "when you are a voter, you are ...

Great Moose Article

Woke up a little early this morning and came across this article on SI.com by John Donovan. It's a great article about Mike Mussina and his tenure in pinstripes. If you're a Moose fan, or are a baseball fan that doubts just how good Moose really is/was (hey it's still not official), I suggest ...

Now, will he pull the Clemens?

Mike Mussina announces his retirement, despite being just 30 wins away from 300, and he's the first guy to retire after a 20 win season since Sandy Koufax.Well, congrats to him, I guess. But will he still stay away in mid-May, when NYY offers him $10 million for a few months of work after the injuries hit?(Oh, and if anyone really wants to have the serious argument that he isn't...
