Nov. 5 Cubs Recap

Arismendy Alcantara hit his first homer of the Dominican Winter League helping Licey to a 7-3 win. It we a tough night for starting pitchers Dallas Beeler (AFL) and Yoanner Negrin (VWL). Newly acquired relief pitcher Daniel Bard made his debut in the PWL but failed to retire any of the four hitters he faced.

2013 Cubs Prospects in Review: Arismendy Alcantara

Before this season started, I was about as high on Arismendy Alcantara as anyone. More on the 2014 Cubs

In the comments today, we were talking about the 2014 Cubs thanks to a post by Myles. I mentioned that I would not be surprised to see Arismendy Alcantara make the team out of spring training. I still think it’s more likely he starts in AAA Iowa, but it won’t surprise me. I didn’t see the Cubs spending much, or anything at 2nd base, or the rest of the infield for that matter...

Cubs July 29 Minor League Recap

Arismendy Alcantara broke out of a slump with three hits and four RBI to lead Tennessee to 8-4 win. Plenty of roster moves in the Cubs minors as OF Brett Jackson was sent to AA Tennessee.

Alcantara homers in Futures Game; 7/14 Recap

Arismendy Alcantara made the most of his opportunity at the Futures Game hitting a homer into the upper deck. Iowa fell in 18 innings while Daytona won their fourth in a row. Mesa hit a pair of two-run homers in the ninth to beat the A’s in the AZL and Boise blanked Vancouver on get-away day as Zack Godley won his first pro game.
