The Chicago Cubs have activated pitchers Kyuji Fujikawa and Arodys Vizcaino along with infielder Mat Gamel from the 60-day disabled list.
Fujikawa was 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 appearances with the Cubs before having season-ending surgery on his right elbow.
The 22-year-old Vizcaino has missed the past two seasons because of elbow surgery and last pitched in the majors as a rookie...

The Chicago Cubs have activated right-handed relievers Arodys Vizcaino and Kyuji Fujikawa from the 60-day disabled list.
Vizcaino, who had season-ending surgery back in May on his right elbow to remove calcium buildup should be 100% healthy and ready to go come spring training, but the news isn’t as good for Fujikawa. Having had to have Tommy John surgery back in June, he will...

Arodys Vizcaino came into pro ball as a Yankees J2 signing in 2007 out of the Dominican Republic. Nobody seems to have his signing bonus listed anywhere, so let's assume it was a pittance. He went straight to the Gulf Coast League in 2008 and began moving up the prospect ranks, finishing the 2009 season as the Yankees' third best prospect according to BA, wielding monster...
It has been a bad year for recovery from Tommy John surgery. Prior to this season, it seemed that the recovery was becoming routine. Twelve to fourteen months after, most pitchers seemed to be back in the majors and doing OK. 2013? Not so much. Ryan Madson, Cory Luebke, Daniel Hudson, Scott Baker, Joe Wieland, Neftali Feliz, Kyle Drabek, and Arodys Vizcaino are all behind that...
For those Northsiders hoping to see Arodys Vizcaino in a Chicago Cubs uniform this season, you can forget about it. The 22-year old prospect has undergone right elbow debridement surgery. The surgery will not prevent him from pitching again this season, but it will in all likelihood prevent him from pitching enough to get called up.

Arodys Vizcaino is planning to be ready by spring training.
On Tuesday, Vizcaino was at Petco Park to work out for pitching coach Chris Bosio and meet the staff. He won't make his Cubs debut this season, having undergone Tommy John surgery in March.
Vizcaino will continue his rehab in Mesa, Ariz., at the Cubs complex.
"I'm going to be ready next year in Spring Training...
I was getting ready for bed last night when all these trades happened and I assumed I'd make it to bed at my bedtime. Then I saw Arodys Vizcaino's name surface as one of the two players the Cubs were getting in return for Reed Johnson and Paul Maholm. At that point I knew I was going to be up past my bedtime.
I had figured when we first heard of these players leaving,...
Patience is a quality that can often enable teams to make the smartest trades. The Chicago Cubs know going in that the prize of their deal with the Braves, Arodys Vizcaino, will not be a factor in 2012. But, rather than settling for safer second rate prospects in exchange for Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson, they landed a young pitcher with immense upside.
