Cubs prospect Arodys Vizcaino underwent surgery on elbow
For those Northsiders hoping to see Arodys Vizcaino in a Chicago Cubs uniform this season, you can forget about it. The 22-year old prospect has undergone right elbow debridement surgery. The surgery will not prevent him from pitching again this season, but it will in all likelihood prevent him from pitching enough to get called up.

Muskat: Work in progress, but Cubs aim to be competitive
I saw the title of this article a couple days ago, but didn't bother reading it. I don't believe the Cubs have attempted to be competitive in the short term in any way whatsoever so the title made me laugh. I thought I'd answer the questions just for fun.
1. Are Matt Garza, Scott Baker and Arodys Vizcaino healthy?
Yes. Probably. Not for awhile.
I'm confident Garza...
Arodys Vizcaino plans to be ready by spring
Arodys Vizcaino is planning to be ready by spring training.
On Tuesday, Vizcaino was at Petco Park to work out for pitching coach Chris Bosio and meet the staff. He won't make his Cubs debut this season, having undergone Tommy John surgery in March.
Vizcaino will continue his rehab in Mesa, Ariz., at the Cubs complex.
"I'm going to be ready next year in Spring Training...
New Cub Arodys Vizcaino
I was getting ready for bed last night when all these trades happened and I assumed I'd make it to bed at my bedtime. Then I saw Arodys Vizcaino's name surface as one of the two players the Cubs were getting in return for Reed Johnson and Paul Maholm. At that point I knew I was going to be up past my bedtime.
I had figured when we first heard of these players leaving,...
Cubs Gamble on Vizcaino, Sell Low on Soto
“As a whole, not specifically regarding potential deals, we need to add a lot of pitching to the system. It’s not enough to have a handful or two. You need waves and waves coming through your system, and we don’t have that. We hardly have even one wave coming, so we need to rebuild a lot of pitching depth.”

Cubs Land Vizcaino in Shrewd Move
Patience is a quality that can often enable teams to make the smartest trades. The Chicago Cubs know going in that the prize of their deal with the Braves, Arodys Vizcaino, will not be a factor in 2012. But, rather than settling for safer second rate prospects in exchange for Paul Maholm and Reed Johnson, they landed a young pitcher with immense upside.

Yankees scouting profile: Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez is often remembered as the reason the Yankees were so willing to part ways with Arodys Vizcaino in the trade for Javier Vazquez (still bitter about that one). In 2010 it looked like the Yankees gave the Braves the wrong prospect, as Ramirez hit a wall and Vizcaino shot up the prospect rankings. Then the Braves made Vizcaino a reliever, where he proceeded to blow...

Arodys Vizciano to Have Tommy John Surgery
The recent spat of injury news continued this morning, when the Braves announced that RHP Arodys Vizcaino was undergoing Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire 2012 season. Vizciano was rated the #2 prospect in the Braves system by Marc Hulet, and despite being just 21-years-old, he was in the mix for a Major League job at some point in 2012. While the Braves certainly have...

Top 50 Prospects: #30 – Arodys Vizcaino
#30 Arodys Vizcaino
Atlanta Braves
DOB: 11/13/1990
Previous Rank: N/R
ETA: 2012
Due to the Braves’ outstanding mismanagement of the bullpen in Atlanta, they were forced to temporarily convert Vizcaino into a reliever for the last few months of the season. He made 17 appearances for Atlanta and walked too many guys, but was otherwise effective and posted a 4.67 ERA and struck...
