Brandon Inge Activated and Starting at Third Tonight

Brandon Inge has been activated from the DL and is starting at third tonight. The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated third baseman Brandon Inge, and have him in tonight’s lineup at third base. Inge was recently on a rehab assignment in Indianapolis, batting for a .150/.320/.283 line in 60 at-bats. The Pirates are going up against left-hander Cole Hamels tonight. Inge has done well...

Tigers weekly: Inge out, losing continues

A week ago, Tigers fans were dealing with losing three of four to Texas. It helped that it was the Rangers, though. After all, they have won the last two American League championships. This Monday, those same fans are wishing that they could go back to the exciting days where losing three games to the Rangers was the biggest issue facing their team. Since then, the Tigers have...

Brandon Inge headed to Oakland

The Oakland Athletics, continuing their search for an adequate third baseman, signed free agent Brandon Inge on Sunday, according to a major-league source. Inge, who was released by the Detroit Tigers last week, cleared waivers at 2 p.m. ET. Inge played 12 seasons for the Tigers, breaking in initially as a catcher. A career .234 hitter, Inge was selected to the All-Star Game in...

Wakiji: Inge goes out graciously

Detroit -- Detroit Tigers fans no longer have Brandon Inge to kick around anymore. The Tigers released Inge after Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners, ending an era that started on April 3, 2001, when Inge made his major league debut at catcher on Opening Day. In fact, I had a weird flashback to that day, standing next to Inge's locker before he spoke. That first...

Keating: Inge done with Tigers

DETROIT -- Well, NOW what can we talk about? Sports-talk radio just got a little quieter. Twitter has fewer tweets. Brandon Inge has played his last game as a Tiger. Everybody happier now? Baseball is a big-boy business. Its a bottom-line game. Those who can play, play. Those who cant, get released. Everyone acknowledges that. Inge has not been able to hit consistently the...

Regner: Determined Inge goes on DL

The Detroit Tigers placed Brandon Inge on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of a groin strain. The move buys some time for the Tigers, who must eventually decide what do with Inge, who hit just .180 in 19 Grapefruit League games. At some point, they'll have to cut him, trade him or hand him one of the 25 roster spots, which would be tough to do because guys like Danny...

Will Brandon Inge Make the 25 Man Roster?

Should he and Will he are two different questions. Based on what I know of JL and his loyalty to veterans and unwillingness to change, I think Inge is a shoe-in. Despite the fact that Dombrowski may be pushing the other way. But let’s see what we know: Turner, Strieby and Berry (and 3 others) were sent down on Monday, so there goes my Quentin Berry for CF campaign. Pitchers...

Inge holds court in Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Brandon Inge might not be "the most interesting man in the world," like the guy in the commercial, but he certainly is the most polarizing figure on the Detroit sports scene. A noticeably bigger Inge on Friday met with the media for the first time since the Tigers signed Prince Fielder to a nine-year, 214 million contract. Inge was the last position...
