Rethinking the Batting Order: Batting Average
Is Brent Morel really a 2 hitter? (Hint: No)
We at Off The Bench have been looking at what happens when we shakeup the lineup based on certain statistical parameters. Yesterday’s post looked at putting Michael Born in the 4th spot in the Atlanta Braves lineup and sticking Prince Fielder in the two-hole. It may seem like a dumb idea at first, but given that Joe Maddon is...

Chicago White Sox Notes: Hudson, Morel, Viciedo
The Chicago White Sox have signed second baseman Orlando Hudson after he was released by the San Diego Padres. The move gives the White Sox flexibility in the infield. The 34-year-old Hudson hit .211/.260/.317 in 35 games with San Diego this season, he did have 5 triples on the season.
With Gordon Beckham finally starting to hit, Hudson may be called on to play some 3rd base...

White Sox Morel, Cubs LaHair: opposite ends of statistical spectrum
Today’s White Sox vs. Cubs series began with very little pomp and circumstance. Since 2008, when both teams were in first place upon meeting, the red line rivalry has approached with less excitement and intrigue every season. This year, both teams entered with very low expectations and so far living down to them, as each team is below .500.
The Sox are a slightly better team...

White Sox Ken “Hawk” Harrelson: worst announcer in all of sports? (video)
Who’s the biggest dead weight connected to the Chicago White Sox: Gordon Beckham? Brent Morel?
How about Ken “Hawk”Harrelson who gave us 63 seconds of dead air Friday night on the game’s most pivotal play. Yes, over a minute of silence as the game’s critical home run unfolded. Obviously, it’s time HE GONE!
Over the weekend, the Detroit Tigers took...

How Long Will The Chicago White Sox Wait on Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel?
Gordon Beckham was supposed to be the next superstar in the Chicago White Sox organization, while Brent Morel was expected to come in and take over the 3rd base spot with his great defense. Well the defense for both has been above average, while the hitting has been absolutely terrible.
Beckham, 25, comes into today hitting an abysmal .153/.231/.203 for a terrible .434 OPS. He...

Brent Morel, 2012 Fantasy Sleeper
3rd base sucks. My apologies to MC Serch and Prime Minister Pete Nice, but it ain’t about y’all! It’s 3rd base for fantasy baseball. And it’s like a raccoon crawled up in your attic and died, then the raccoon’s ghost came back in the form of your dead grandmother and nags you about changing your underwear. Tell your dead raccoon ghost in the...

Chicago White Sox Spring Training Preview: Third Base
The Chicago White Sox are entering this season expecting Brent Morel to take a big step forward as the third baseman. Morel at the moment is the only option at third base.
Morel, 24, ended the 2011 season on a high note with eight of his ten homeruns in the month of September. He really needs step his game up this year. Morel is great with the glove and could easily be a...
