Padres Right to Stand Pat in Right
The Padre brass have been consistent when outlining their offseason strategy of adding starting pitching to a roster they otherwise feel is essentially set. Friar fans would tend to agree with that plan but one spot on the field that many followers of the team would like to see upgraded is RF where the club plans to roll out Will Venable and Chris Denorfia again in a platoon situation...
Padres' Denorfia accepts two-year contract extension
Right fielder Chris Denorfia on Wednesday became the sixth San Diego Padre to get a contract extension this season. Liking the "niche" he has found with the Padres, Denorfia accepted a two-season extension that will pay him $2 million in 2013 and $2.25 million in 2014. The 32-year-old outfielder made $1.165 million this season. "It's a great day for me and...

Dave Clark: Third Base Coach Cup Check
Baseball comedy or baseball horrow show?
Houston Astros third base coach, Dave Clark, took a throw to the groin by the Padres rightfielder last night. Chris Denorfia made the offending throw, and Chase Headley failed to block the ball at third base. Clark, uh, took it like a man?
It’s not really where he got hit, it’s his dramatic reaction. The good news is that moments...
D-backs lose first game of season to Padres
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Chris Denorfia hit a two-run homer with one out in the eighth inning Wednesday that carried the San Diego Padres to a 2-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, who had been the last unbeaten team in the major leagues.
Denorfia's clutch shot to straightaway center field -- his first of the season -- came on a 2-1 pitch from David Hernandez (0-1). Cameron Maybin...
