CHUCK JAMES RUMORS & GOSSIP

On The Road With Petey Pete: Wet & Soggy In New Britain

click any photo to embiggen With respect to Bisons lefty Chuck James who told me a few weeks ago in response to my somewhat facetious comment to him, “Everyday’s a beautiful day for baseball.” Yesterday in New Britain, CT it wasn’t exactly a beautiful day for baseball as it rained right up until game time, and then the B-Mets lost a frustrating affair to the...

James sent down

Photo by Michael BaronChuck James has been re-assigned to minor league camp, it appears the lone move of cut day this week was sending down veteran lefty Chuck James. Entering camp I thought James had a chance of making the team since he could make spot starts and be a second lefty out of the pen. But James never really gained any traction and the few chances he had, he wasn'...

Mets News and Notes: Torres, Hairston, James, Pelfrey

Outfielder Andres Torres reported progress in the condition of his strained left calf, but he said he still needs a few days to rest before he can return to action. A team doctor saw Torres on Wednesday. He has not undergone an MRI, but says the discomfort in his leg has lessened. Outfielder Scott Hairston (oblique strain) swung a bat today for the first time since his injury...

Chuck James is versatile Starter/Reliever

I saw Chuck James tweeting this morning, decided to take a chance and see if he would respond. James was a 22 game winner over two seasons as a starter with the Braves (2006-2007) but when he returned after two years of injuries the Twins used him as a reliever.I asked James whether he felt due to injuries he was now a reliever or did he still have a starters mentality or was he...

Get To Know A Mets Minor League Player: Chuck James

If Chuck James sounds familiar, that’s because you remember him as a pitcher on the Braves. Chuck James was signed to a minor league contract this offseason by the Mets and is next in line with Jeremy Hefner on the outside looking in for a spot in the rotation this season. As already described in an earlier post, the Mets rotation is probably set right now, with Santana’...

Seriously, What A Missed Opportunity For The Mets

It’s kind of sad to sit back and watch the names of all these solid young pitchers dominate the rumor mill and the trading block this hot stove season. In any other year, we might have seen the Mets jump in on one or two of these pitchers to fortify the rotation, but instead we sit on our hands and look, but not touch. Of course you get all the silly rumors that the Mets are...

James was a solid pick-up - in-depth look...

Mets announced that they signed Chuck James to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, the 30 y/o left hander is the exact type of pitcher Alderson described less then a week ago. Someone who could either pitch out of the rotation or the pen and could start the year in Buffalo. Selected in the 20th round of the 2002 draft by the Braves, he was the #96 ranked prospect...

Right now you’re probably thinking to yourself, “who in the world is Chuck James?” Well, to be honest, I was thinking the same exact thing until I read more about him. Mets Sign Swingman Chuck James

On Tuesday, general manager Sandy Alderson said he wanted to add some rotation depth as insurance in case Johan Santana isn’t ready to start the season. He followed through on that today as the Mets signed veteran left-handed swingman Chuck James to a minor-league contract. James received an invitation to major-league camp. James, 30, worked strictly out of the bullpen last...
