DAVE SAPPELT RUMORS & GOSSIP

The Children Are The Future-Cubs Minor League Update Sponsored by The Weyland Yutani Corporation

Iowa Lots of hitting going on as Iowa put up 13 on Memphis. Brett Jackson went 4-5 and raised his batting average by almost 30 points. Adrian Cardenas went 3-5 and really by this point should be here over DeWitt. Vitters went 2-5 and Dave Sappelt went 3-6 with a HR.  Smokies Logan Watkins had [...]

The Children Are The Future-Cubs Minor League Update Sponsored By Binny’s Beverage Depot

Iowa Dave Sappelt hit his 2nd HR of the year and Anthony Rizzo knocked in 3 RBI's. Adrian Cardenas keeps killing the ball down there and Vitters is now sporting a sweet .635 OPS. But at least he has 5 walks vs 6 k's. Keep in mind he is still young for AAA. Casey Coleman [...]

Cubs Get Wood, Torreyes and Sappelt from Reds

The Cubs end up getting OF Dave Sappelt and INF Ronald Torreyes along with LHP Travis Wood for LHP Sean Marshall. Torreyes sounds like the most intriguing prospect of the group, but not a bad haul for a reliever in my opinion. Follow the comments starting from here for some great quotes that Cubster found on the new guys.

Report: Reds trade Dave Sappelt and Ronald Torreyes in Sean Marshall trade

Keith Law is reporting that the two prospects in the Sean Marshall for Travis Wood deal are Dave Sappelt and Ronald Torreyes. If it is true, I will just say that I am in shock over this. I wouldn’t trade Travis Wood or Dave Sappelt straight up for one season of Sean Marshall, who I really like. I am sorry, but relievers simply aren’t worth that kind of value. To add in...

State of the Farm – Centerfield

Dave Sappelt leads the way in center on my depth chart. He is a strong ranged center fielder who takes good routes, has tons of speed and reads the ball quickly off the bat. His arm is a bit below average, but his range more than makes up for it. He may not get a chance to play center because the Reds have Drew Stubbs and are likely to stick with him in center. Offensively, especially...
