McGowan has shoulder problem, will be shut down
Toronto Blue Jays starter Dustin McGowan has experienced shoulder pain while rehabilitating a foot injury and will be shut down for two weeks.
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Thursday that the 30-year-old right-hander experienced some soreness in his shoulder during long tossing. McGowan underwent an MRI and has consulted with orthopedist Dr. James Andrews.
Farrell said the...

Dustin McGowan Broken Again; Shut Down For Two Weeks
At this point, you have to wonder whether the make-good story of McGowan may just be reaching its conclusion before it even had a chance to really get started. The Toronto Blue Jays‘ projected 5th starter heading into this season have once again been shut down due to problems with his shoulder.
The news comes from MLB.com’s Gregor Chisholm, who says that McGowan experienced...

Fresh Off Deal With Toronto Blue Jays, Dustin McGowan To Open Season On DL
I think most of us probably knew it was going to happen this way, but it’s now official: Dustin McGowan has been shut down from all baseball activities, and will open the 2012 season on the disabled list.
As confirmed by John Lott of the National Post earlier today, the Toronto Blue Jays have been keeping their newest signee from throwing activities, with no timetable for return...

Afterthoughts: McGowan, Snider, Lind, etc.
I almost titled this post "the last word" but that would have been ridiculously optimistic, right? Anyway, there's enough Jays news in recent days that it's a dereliction of duty to not comment on it.Item: Dustin McGowan nursing minor injury, signed to extension. The easy to quantify is the injury story. Minor inflammation in his right foot will almost certainly...

Anthopoulos On McGowan: “I’ll Take The Risk On The Right Human Being”
After last night’s somewhat surprising announcement of a new extension for oft-injured pitcher Dustin McGowan, who is ironically currently out with a minor foot injury, Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos spoke to media earlier today explaining the thought process in signing off on the deal, and the questions surrounding the 30-year old’s health. The simplest answer...

Blue Jays Extend McGowan
The Toronto Blue Jays have faith in Dustin McGowan. Even though he’s only pitched 21 innings in the majors since 2008, the Jays this week rewarded the 30-year-old with a three-year, $4.1 million contract. With his new deal, McGowan will still make $600,000 this season before receiving $1.5 million in 2013 and an additional $1.5 million in 2014. If all goes well, Toronto can...

The Toronto Blue Jays Unexpectedly Extend Dustin McGowan For 2 Years
The Toronto Blue Jays have just extended injury prone starter Dustin McGowan to a long term extension. The deal is worth $3 million over the next two seasons, followed by a $4M club option for 2015. It’s a puzzling deal for the Jays, as McGowan hadn’t been in the majors between 2009 and 2010 due to injuries. And in 2011 he managed to throw just 21 innings.
Name an injury...
