The Orix Buffaloes of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball announced last week they’ve signed right-hander Jharel Cotton for the 2023 season.
San Francisco also optioned righty Sean Hjelle to Triple-A Sacramento.
The Giants announced a series of roster moves, claiming right-handed pitcher Jharel Cotton off waivers from the Twins. In a corresponding move, outfielder Willie Calhoun was designated for assignment.
Cotton is no stranger to DFA limbo, as he’s been on and off the Minnesota roster all year.
