Putz, Hill set to return soon
It seems like there’s new injury news every time you turn around these days, probably because of how many guys currently occupy the Diamondbacks’ disabled list. Two of the bigger fish are due back soon, so let’s take a look.
Diamondbacks' J.J. Putz throws pain-free bullpen session
Arizona Diamondbacks reliever J.J. Putz -- who's been on the disabled list since May 7 due to a strained right elbow -- threw a pain-free 20-pitch bullpen session on Saturday, according to Barry M. Bloom of MLB.com.
"I'm getting there," Putz said after the session,
which occurred hours before the D-backs played the Giants in the second matchup
of the three...
Putz has strain, doesn't need elbow surgery
Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz has a sprained right ulnar collateral ligament and will be shut down for two weeks but will not require surgery on his elbow.
"I think we dodged a bullet," Putz said Thursday. "It's not great, but it could have been a lot worse."
Putz left in the ninth inning of a game against the Dodgers on Tuesday after facing one batter....

Sources: Putz opts for rehab rather than surgery
Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz, placed on the disabled list Wednesday, will attempt to rehabilitate his injured right elbow rather than undergo surgery, according to major league sources.
Putz is suffering from a sprained ligament, a strained flexor pronator and an irritated nerve, one source said. There is no timetable yet for his return.
We know hes not going to be back anytime...

Diamondbacks J.J Putz will not need elbow surgery
Arizona reliever J.J. Putz has been diagnosed with a sprained ligament, a strained flexor pronator and nerve irritation in his right elbow. All of Putz’s ailments can be addressed though rehab meaning that the pitcher will not need major surgery on his right elbow.
Putz will attempt to work his way back before the end of the 2013 season.

Arizona Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz was forced to exit last night's appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers after experiencing stiffness in his throwing elbow, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.
Putz will visit with a doctor today and could undergo an MRI to further examine the elbow. Any elbow-related issues are bad news, and Putz thought he should say something...
