Not many people know the true origin of "Super Joe" attached to the new White Sox third-base coach Joe McEwing. For that particular moniker, McEwing can thank Eric Davis and their brief stop together with the Cardinals in 1999.

Ten days after being named the Chicago White Sox's third base coach, Joe McEwing interviewed Thursday for the vacant St. Louis managerial position.
Chicago White Sox new third base coach Joe McEwing will interview for St. Louis's managerial position, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Jeff Manto, Joe McEwing and Mark Parent have joined new manager Robin Ventura's coaching staff with the Chicago White Sox.
Manto was the White Sox's minor league hitting coordinator the last four seasons and will now be the hitting coach. McEwing managed Chicago's Triple-A affiliate at Charlotte last season. He will serve as third base coach.
